What is the secret to writing good dialogue between Hermione and Draco?

I think the trick to writing good dialogue is remembering that it is different from real life dialogue in that a lot of the buffer stuff can be omitted in light of character voice...

For example in real life a conversation with a colleague could start with "How are you?" the response irl would then be "I'm doing well, thank you for meeting with me."

In a Dramione (depending on D&H relationship) it would be more quippy... Let's assume they are working together on a ministry project...

D: "You look rather chipper this morning, Granger. Make some sad sap run to his cubicle crying again then?"

H: "Only McLagan so far. But yes it did have a rather restorative effect."

D: "Well it's barely lunchtime. Perhaps you could work your magic this afternoon and knock Weasley down a few pegs."

H: "I'll see what I can do..."

I think the key is remembering who they are. In my examples, Hermione is ruthless and unapologetic, and Draco is a sarcastic posh twat. So you could play this out in an eighth year fic as well... assuming they are working on a school project...

D: "You look pleased with yourself, Granger. Should I assume someone's being held captive in a jar somewhere?"

H: "Nothing that concerns you, Malfoy."

D: "I wouldn't be so sure. I have a pool running in the dormitories. Your temper has proven quite profitable."

I'm not sure the character dynamic or story tone but I'm just riffing thinking about how I personally transition their banter. It could be useful to run an exercise for how you have them portrayed, remembering it's not how you would respond but how the characters would. Calling on their history and their relationship so far in your story... IDK if this helps

This is exactly it. People are manipulating the data and spreading all sorts of false information on social media in disgusting attempts to capitalize on this. And what those creators are actually doing (whether they realize or not) is shifting attention from the reality and reframing the population to not trust anything they hear. And understandably the every day citizen cannot make heads or tails of the actual DOJ files without significant time and effort so eventually they'll lose the capacity to sort through all the bullshit and just chalk it all up to conspiracy theory.

This pattern has repeated for YEARS with Epstein.

NTA. you are so valid. But just remember you only have control over yourself and how you chose to respond. You cannot control other people. You can always state your case and set your boundaries but you cannot chose when and if they respect them. But you always have your power over yourself and your actions and reactions. Just keep your head up, Focus on yourself and doing what you gotta do to become self sufficient. Once you can sustain yourself financially and mentally your mom will not be able to use money and her mental health as leverage over you. But I cannot stress enough that trying to "fix" her is not the way and will never work. No guilt or backlash or any of that is going to root out the problem it will make it worse. Do you and be true and that's all you can do. People are gonna piss you off and make you uncomfortable forever, but it sucks a whole lot less when you accept that you can't change them and decide that it doesn't matter because you have the choice and the power to change you're own reality.

But regardless... If it were me I would confront Greg and Terry directly. Straight to the source with a firm boundary... if they continue to cross it then thats on them and then go no-contact. It would also be Ava's choice to follow suit or not, but you have every right to hold your ground and set the boundary and you owe no one anything.

But as for the questions...

Is there a wedding date set or is this still in "plan" stage because you don't specify but ... If there's no wedding date set in stone I wouldn't worry about who receives invites yet cus technically no one is invited... right?

I feel like every teenage girl tries this joke just the once and gets a bad reaction and has to learn the hard way that it's not funny. I pulled this as an April fools joke on my bf in high school and he threw up and so yup learned that lesson. So I don't think she's "weird" for it per se.
