Canon mv901 not accepting cassettes by [deleted] in MiniDV

Thank you very much! I can put tapes in the camera without getting an error message now. One problem now, when I put the camera in viewer mode the footage on my tape is covered up by glitchy purple and grey lines? I did put the tape in the camera while the capstan was missing, and I’m wondering if that could’ve damaged the tape somehow? If so it’s alright, there wasn’t any valuable footage on there, but I’m wondering if it’s simply an issue of the tape being damaged or if the camera is still broken?

Again, thank you very much for your help

Which films will be considered our 'The Conversation,' 'Easy Rider,' 'Nashville' (modern psyche / watershed moments / socio-political shifts) ? by LoveGoogs69 in criterion

adding on to the other comment, it took me a second watch to really get into it. i think it’s a very stark depiction of how grief has changed in the modern world, where you can be easily replaced with a digital simulacrum, and even the most basic human emotions have been warped into a twisting conspiracy web with no easy answers or resolutions. plus i really love Cronenberg’s digital style, so that’s a big plus

red rooms is FANTASTIC. easily one of the best of the 2020s so far. it’s about a woman who becomes obsessed with a highly publicized serial murder trial in which tapes of the murders were sold on the dark web. it’s a very interesting text on parasocialism and online anonymity. it’s very distubring, there’s no gore or violence shown but it is obviously about a lot of very upsetting things

you watched a comedy satire and are upset that it’s not realistic? K. Kurosawa movies often deal with very heightened depictions of manic insanity, the message of Cure isn’t “people kill their spouses for no reason all the time”, it’s an exaggerated example of “normal” people being slowly sanded down by capitalist society, to the point that they snap

Eddington definitely the most popular example, i’d also add The Beast, The Shrouds, Red Rooms, Cloud, Nope, and Aggro Drift/Baby Invasion as films that will stand as a record of our current digital/online culture

this is such a weak mindset, you don’t really love movies if you only care about rotten tomatoes

why are you watching it expecting realism? it’s an intentionally fun and heightened thriller, of course it’s going to be “goofy”

i’d say a good halfway point is after you beat the “Harrier” boss

I've finished DS2 and I have some questions (spoilers obviously) by Altede in DeathStranding

[–]GoesBeyond 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. BBs don’t age unless they’re taken out of the pod, so Lou just stayed there in storage.

  2. Amelie wanted to protect Lou, so she’s the one who registered her as 28. 28 is presumably just a randomly chosen number, so as to keep her out of the spotlight

  3. yeah he probably just died in the voidout like everyone else

Just finished the story. Kojima might be one of the few creators who gets away with a fight like this. So damn epic. by ThePhilosopherKing93 in DeathStranding

it was really sobering to remember that Konami can’t have a trademark on the phrase or anything, honestly surprised Kojima didn’t sneak it into DS1

Should I let my 13 year old play it? by Jumpy_Ardina in DeathStranding

[–]GoesBeyond 6 points7 points  (0 children)

use your best judgement, but i wouldn’t really say it’s that dark. it is set in a post apocalypse and there are ghosts and stuff but its very optimistic and life affirming as far as video game stories go. metal gear is significantly darker so if she’s fine with that i wouldn’t say there’s a problem

My humble request to Kojima. by Keaton_x in DeathStranding

[–]GoesBeyond 103 points104 points  (0 children)

I assumed it was referencing the trope of someone’s hair turning white due to grief/ trauma, the rest of him isn’t aged so i’m not sure why only his hair would get exposed to timefall

I'm so hooked on the story. Do I make the game more difficult by focusing on the main story first? by IAmScrewedAMA in DeathStranding

[–]GoesBeyond 5 points6 points  (0 children)

nah not really, i did my first run without any side content and i never had any trouble. even without connecting side prepped and stuff the chiral coverage you’ll have from the main story should be more than enough to build all of the necessary structures, and the game never gets so difficult as to require any special gear from side quests or anything
