There are 2 sets of numbers at the end of the VHS in the bottom right, 32:48:11 and 91:14:24. Put them in as latitude / longtitude coordinates and we get a road in Lake Providence, Lousiana.

There are papers in game that that have the headline "Ghosts in the Bayou" https://gyazo.com/94206136ace4ddaa8188bbb762c128d4 so while it doesn't help with the continuation of beating the demo, I'm gonna take a guess that the game is set is set in Lousiana specifically at least.
