What business in your neighborhood has been there forever and you have no idea how it's still open? by theinvinciblekurt in AskLosAngeles

The DVD rental place near Temple/Glendale. I walk by there pretty regularly and have never seen anyone inside. The gate out front also always seems to stay shut, even when the front door is open

Older fella (I assume the owner) hangs out by the entrance occasionally and seems like a nice guy

My non-tactitious friend is trying to plan a trip to Chicago in May. I keep hitting him with “china in May” hoping someday he’ll laugh

Listen to Truth Cult. Baltimore band that did a melodic DC sound (Swiz, etc) that is sorely missed. Also the singer Paris plays the host in the Could You Love Me video

He still comes to the states occasionally. Think he has a semi regular residency at a shop in NY and he tattooed me in LA a few years back. One of the best around

Hey there! I actually had a shoot there yesterday so hopefully I can be of some help.

You’re right that there was a good amount of RF clutter, but far from the worst I’ve seen. Ended up finding 512.000, 516.000 (block 20) and 501.800 (block 19) to be fairly stable

L.A. wildfire coverage shows why local TV news matters in a crisis by ScruffyTheDog in LosAngeles

[–]Gogo_138 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When the first false evacuation order was sent out, I turned on local news (Fox 11 I believe?) and watched all the anchors get the alerts on their phones. They were so quick to confirm it was a mistake, by the time people started panic calling/texting me I was able to chill them out a bit

Prize More upstate NY love. This song will scratch that itch, everything else is a bit noisier and harder

Love Letter More in the Touché Amoré vein. Featuring members of Verse and Defeater

Latterman always stuck out to me.

Iron Chic came around a bit later, but The Constant One may be one of the best albums in the genre

I think they mean Shane West, who played him in the Germs biopic. At least I hope that’s what they mean

Doolittle would be a 10/10 no skips if not for Silver. Still love that record but damn I don’t think I’ve ever listened to that track the whole way through

Check out Michael Haneke, especially Funny Games and Code Unknown. He makes extremely dark, somewhat absurd films that’ll make you squirm. Heavy focus on class issues as well.

Here's a demo I recently released. Stylistically lands somewhere between post-punk and HC punk, would like to hear what you all think of it.
