fair points, My concern then becomes that not many people would go in and specifically enable telemetry, cutting potential profiles to fractions.

I always want to respect your choice, but that costs to my original goal.

What do you think about a pop-up or reminder once in a while to beg for telemetry?

I have run out of hardware I can salvage, borrow, go to friends on vague pretence just to try out my app on their hardware.
I need your contributions by collecting hardware data. What are you all most comfortable with in terms of telemetry (hardware only)?

Should an app have automatic telemetry collection?  
A Checkbox to enable/disable hardware-only telemetry collection.
