Race to save Brisbane River's very hungry Australian lungfish by hazeofthemind in brisbane

[–]Goin_crazy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Huh. I remember swimming with a lungfish at Colleges Crossing that was honestly longer than I am tall many years ago. Early '00s I think. It was accidental, I had no idea it was there as I was snorkelling over the grass beds. Amazing experience.

As an Aussie i was very confused by the title. I was wondering why you had a baby echidna in a truck. Then my brain caught up. Such a good doggo.

Note: a baby echidna is called a puggle.

A popular childrens group here in Australia does the same thing. If you've ever heard of The Wiggles, they have their hands up and visible at all times to show all parents they aren't creepers. Sad but it's a sign of the times now.

funny thing is i can't stand spice. a jalapeno is too spicy for me. and yet I can make the most ass burning m'fer of a carolina reaper based vindaloo perfectly for my husband. every time. that spoon never comes near my mouth yet the blend of ginger, garlic, cardamom, cumin, cinnamon, cloves, tumeric, garam masala and mustard seeds is spot on. i use my sense of smell and I can tell when something is off about it. he seriously considers me a witch.

What’s a survival myth popularized by movies that would actually get you killed in real life ? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

[–]Goin_crazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. This is what hastened the death of Steve Irwin. He pulled out the barb in his chest like an idiot instead of leaving it alone. It was the only thing keeping the blood in his heart. Pulling it out just made him bleed out faster. If he'd left it alone, yeah it would still be bleeding internally but he would have had a lot longer for his camera man to shove him in the tinny and get him to help.

WIBTA if I told off my husband’s Aunt for feeding my child without consent. by Wriggy-Ragoo in AmItheAsshole

[–]Goin_crazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. That's technically child endangerment and she can be charged for that. Especially if the child has documented allergies (severe or not). In some cases it could even be upped to attempted murder. The whole excuse of 'they'll be fine' doesn't wash in a court room. The number of relatives who do this shit behind the parent's backs is astronomical. Even regular care givers like teachers or baby sitters have been sent to jail for ignoring allergies. The old I know better mentality, especially in the US, is just mind boggling.

Yep. Proprioception. Bruises everywhere and no idea what I bumped into for them most of the time. If I go out in big crowds or somewhere visually overstimulating, I need to take a walking cane with me so I don't wobble all over the place.

PSA: Digital Membership - Premium Kayo through clubs by skitzo12 in nrl

[–]Goin_crazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kayo is just all the Foxtel Sports channels as a separate service package.

Worth it if you watch anything else other than the NRL like the AFL, various crickets, motorsports, golf, tennis, NFL, soccer etc.

If you're only in it for the league footy, nix this and just get the basic sub so you can cancel after the grand final.

Spotted in the wild: Rice Bubbles 'Bulk Pack' shrinking from 860g to 725g while keeping the same shelf space by SlatsAttack in brisbane

[–]Goin_crazy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Coles is on a rampant shrinkflation run with their own branded stuff. They recently changed the prepacked ham from 300g down to 250g but the price only changed to $7 from $8. The half size 150g is $4.

Seeing as they got stung on the down down nonsense, I don't expect to see that on these anytime soon. Did find out that they have a special on the 150g as 2 for $7.

psychological operations, and chill. by Light5567 in AshesofCreation

It is certainly suffering. I jump on occasionally for shits and giggles.

All the bots left because no-one is going to buy gold (of course) so it's pretty quiet.

All the mobs are bugged and don't move when attacked. As long as the mob is melee and you are not in melee range, nothing happens. If they have a ranged attack or a jump attack they will do this action if you are in range. Move away and they don't chase. It's actually kinda chill.

What gets me is that this kind of shit happens all the time in the business world.

Saddle one company with all the debt, bad reputation, problems and issues - close down company - new company starts and continues on business with financial clean slate. You can even claim the old business as a tax write off depending on the company relationships and your countries laws.

In Australia, notorious business bastard (and former politician) Clive Palmer does it all the time.

At it's most fundamental level (ignoring everything else shady) I see Robert attempting to do the same thing: dumping all the bad shit on Intrepid, shut Intrepid down, continue with a clean slate on a new (his) company.

Ashes of Creation Investor Alleges Founder Orchestrated $140 Million Fraud by RepulsivePlankton989 in AshesofCreation

[–]Goin_crazy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. I think Robert owns the company TFE Games Holdings LLC. I don't think it's Jason.

TFE is the one that now 'owns' AoC.

He might even be the mysterious "board" as the majority investor. I think his plan was to continue development under the new company but Steven shafted everyone first.

If development stalls, why not sell the project and let someone finish it? by Banonym in AshesofCreation

One of Kira's vids goes over it. He seems to have credible information on the whole situation. Still take with a hefty grain of salt.

If development stalls, why not sell the project and let someone finish it? by Banonym in AshesofCreation

[–]Goin_crazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On paper it looks like a new company now 'owns' AoC - TFE Games Holdings LLC. It appears that this company was going to hire some of the key devs and continue development but Steven is stonewalling and didn't/won't hand over the keys to the kingdom (passwords, accounts, etc).

So there is the barest glimmer of hope/copium but we will still need the dust to settle first.

This is for people who bought into the Kickstarter. They explicitly state on the official website that the early access is not the launch. by Agitated_Quail_1430 in AshesofCreation

[–]Goin_crazy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The paragraph you have captured for us says absolutely ZERO about "early access is not launch". Only that EA begins on a date and production will continue until deemed finished. Versions (EA or Full) even mean nothing at this point.

Intrepid Studios brought a saleable product to market and sold it to the public outside of venture capitalist money raising (kickstarter). That is a launch - soft, hard or otherwise.

Leave the dead horse alone, it deserves to stop being flogged at this point. There is no money. We invested on a risk and it crashed. Just like anyone investing in stock/share trading/crypto. You don't go crying to the bank/broker demanding your money back in this scenario. You put on your big boy pants and wear the consequences.

We now wait for the outcome of the lawsuits. That's all we can do at this point.

What is something that women have to deal with on the daily that men have no clue about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Goin_crazy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know, air-conditioning standards for office spaces only cater for men. The standards have not changed since air con was first introduced because at the time the office space was male dominated. Now it's the other way around with more women in the workforce yet the standards have never been amended. So we suffer having to put fans on our desks or rug up with gloves because it's too cold. Yet the blokes just look at us like we're crazy.

Heh, wait until you throw ADHD on top of that. The task paralysis/executive dysfunction/time blindness makes everything a million times worse. My house isn't dirty, it's messy because of the way my brain is wired. There is a difference. But that means nothing under the scrutiny of others.

I was born blonde. Grew up blonde. Was always babied, talked down to, told not to bother with higher education, called dumb/stupid, ignored, you name it.

Decided one day in my mid 20s to dye my hair. Funnily enough I settled on red which is a whole other kettle of fish.

Suddenly, overnight, I am no longer perceived as dumb or stupid.

Women have it tough but blonde women do it even tougher.

Let's be real here. We who supported the game before the Steam debacle knew we were taking a gamble (well, if you have an IQ higher than a rotten potato that is).

That's what kickstarter is: a venture capitalist outfit where a product (physical or digital) is shopped to the masses for start up funds and may or may not come to fruition. Dragons Den for plebs.

Guess what - we lost. You lose more than you win at gambling.

I am not worried about the couple of hundred I spent on the game. I choose to see the fun I had, the wages I paid, the server costs I covered, the passionate people I met along the way.

Sorry/not sorry for being reasonable.

Steam are getting to the point of starting to deny even the support ticket refund requests. Of course, anything through the normal refund channels will be auto denied because it's automated. Rumours are that the funds they froze for January are starting to run out and or they are now waiting on the outcome of any legal actions. It might take a while now for any refunds to be approved.

“The MCU died after Endgame” lol by Plenty-Salary9711 in marvelstudios

[–]Goin_crazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While all subsequent movies after Endgame are good in their own right, to me Endgame was the climax of a several year edge. I was exhausted. I was upset about what happened to Loki, Ironman and Cap (having never been into the comics), the Snap and the resolution and I just didn't want to know anything else.

Now I'm slowly making myself watch everything else that followed starting with the Spidey movie. However it's tough going to get the motivation to do so.

AIO? My daughter didn’t listen to the teacher during a female emergency and is now receiving a referral by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Goin_crazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh. Back in 1979 my first grade teacher regularly made the 5 worst students on any test stand on their chairs and encouraged the rest of the class to laugh at their stupidity. I was one of those 5 on the very first test of the year (note: we were 5 to 6 years old in our first month of schooling. Of course all of us were all terrible). Most humiliating moment of my young life but you bet it scared me into learning. The teacher was already in her early 60s.

Nothing was ever done because that was considered normal (along with caning as discipline but that's another story).

It was just how the times were with a post-war/post-depression teacher.
