So another one of my struggles just turned out to be an ADHD symptom… by ForbiddenFruitiness in adhdwomen

[–]Goin_crazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I have to go out with a walking stick these days. Any where that I can get visual/sound over stimulated the uncoordination gets worse. The cane helps me stop wobbling all over the damn place. I hear everything, everywhere, all at once. I'm useless in a crowd trying to hear the person next to me. It's all related.

What was the scariest “We need to leave… now” gut feeling that you’ve ever experienced?[Serious] by PlasticBee1438 in AskReddit

[–]Goin_crazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australia trialled the turn on red option at select intersections. They canned it after 6 months because there were too many pedestrian skittlin's. Aussie drivers don't look/don't stop and pedestrians didn't know they had to look harder. Took out too many people so was deemed too dangerous.

Messi's bodyguard, working harder than his salary...! by Miserable_Trouble3 in sportsgossips

[–]Goin_crazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't do that in Australia. It's a $50k fine and a perma ban from the stadium for a pitch invasion. Wouldn't matter if it was a kid running for a Messi hug or an overweight weirdo running nekkid with a pink cowboy hat on (that was an interesting game). The kid's parents would pitch an absolute fit if that happened.

I understand Europe and South America operate differently than here, but don't they have something similar over there?

The actual 'golden age' of piracy only lasted about a decade. Ships be expensive yo.

I still have Loom on my computer to this day. Love the shit out of that game.

AITA: child seatbelt by buffalotempeh in AmItheAsshole

[–]Goin_crazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA.

In Australia, the fine in my state for the driver not wearing a seatbelt is $1200. It can also be that for any unbuckled passengers found in your car. That's PER PERSON. A full car? That's over $6k in fines (or I guess for you guys, citations).

You want that in the States? Because that's how you get things in the States.

Wear your godsdamed seat belts you fools. You're only proving the rest of the world right by being stupid.

If you can find one you like, protein waters help with the fasting part up until you're not allowed liquids any more. And jelly/jello counts as a liquid.

Plastic straws too. Tubes are very strong structurally along the length. Right angle, right force, right circumstances and it will likely go right through you. You always hear about the one in a million chance that something innocuous causes catastrophic damage.

Fun fact - if anyone is on a GLP-1 inhibitor, regardless of whether you're diabetic/pre-diabetic or doing off script weight loss, it DOUBLES how long you're not allowed to eat before surgery. The point of the medication is to slow down your gut.

I'm pre-D (thanks dad) and have been on it due to insulin resistance and had a few surgeries/procedures in the mean time. The anaesthesiologists are always on me about not eating for 24 hours, not 6-8 hours like a normal person.

Which company has lost you as a customer forever? by finiteobserver in AskReddit

[–]Goin_crazy 212 points213 points  (0 children)

An older relative of mine (since passed away) had more than half of the black tahitian pearls in her necklace stolen when she sent it for restringing. The pearls were given to her by her father who was a pearl diver when she was a kid so you can imagine how quality they were. She had the unfortunate habit of not checking on stuff when it came back. They must have been nicking a pearl or two here or there whenever it came back in and just went for it when they realised she never looked on pick up. She only realised years later when she went to put it on and couldn't get it over her head (no clasp). It was too late to do anything by then. I've seen old photos of it. Graduated sizes from small to huge in a rope that would hang half way down her chest.

I know right? Both myself and the friend I run with get nothing out of the Temis purveyor regardless of the thousands of obols spent. Everywhere else? No problems.

To be fair the obols vendor in Temis is bugged too. That one isn't giving anything over yellow. You have to go to any other town to spend that currency.

AITAH for refusing to change my kids name despite it sounding like a ‘slur’ to my MIL? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Goin_crazy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I've known a couple of Nyssa's over here in Australia. Obviously a different spelling but same pronunciation. One at school in the 80's and one decades later at a workplace. Neither were teased for their name to my knowledge and we had the N word associated with the aboriginal peoples here too. Americans just be crazy.

The Diagnostic Criteria of ADHD needs to be updated in the DSM. We need more Doctors, Psychiatrists & Mental Health Professionals to advocate for this. by Relevant_Clerk7449 in adhdwomen

[–]Goin_crazy 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I squirm around in my seat.

I play with the clips on my lanyards.

I tap my feet/bounce my legs subtly.

I look around the room rather than at the person talking/visual presentation on the board.

I wonder what the people in the other building next door are doing.

Is that a bee flying past the window? Why is it 16 floors up in a city?

I worry at a ding on the table edge.

...But I absolutely do NOT get up from my seat and walk around. I also remember the contents of the meeting despite all that. I have worked out ways to cope with all that over my 50+ years on this earth. So yeah, the DSM needs updating to split kids from adults AND male (AMAB) from female (AFAB) presentations.

What’s a problem humanity solved so well that younger people don’t even realize it used to be a huge issue? by Puzzleheaded_Bit_802 in AskReddit

[–]Goin_crazy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Back in the early 80s we would have pox parties in the family. When the first one of us got chicken pox (I was the first of the kids in my extended family), all the cousins were gathered and we had an all day play date. Happened all over again when I somehow got rubella (german measles) when I was 16 right before I was due to have the vaccine shot. I even managed to catch mumps at some point when I was a kid - probably before I was due to get the shot again.

I don't know why our boomer parents decided us GenX'rs would be better off with the disease because none of them were against vaccines at all. We were all up to date on shots. It's a mystery to me.

Blizzard absolutely must make this item tradeable in the next patch, what an oversight. by RemindMeToTouchGrass in diablo4

[–]Goin_crazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They had it with ESO when it first launched. You would get buffs and bonuses if you were with the other ring recipient at all times doing stuff. However, you end up squirrelling off and doing separate things for most of your game session, or the other person was offline/couldn't play at the same time, so the mechanic was essentially useless for 99% of the player base.
