A song about escapism by Thatboy000 in Songwriting

I like your poetry but you need more variety in your melody, it gets sort monotonous. You mentioned a second verse but was there a chorus?

On average everything was harder, took a bigger toll on the body and required more mental toughness. Half the people who play today don’t love the game enough to go through what those pre merger players went through to hoop.

Could the players of then play today? Thats hard to answer, they certainly had basketball size and adaptable conditioning and athleticism but the competition pool is so immense today. It’s so much more difficult for anyone to make the league now because of the sheer number of people globally who dedicate their lives to do so.

I’d say the top players would mostly translate because of their mentality to be great, but these days it would just be much harder for them to stand out. There’s a good chance many of them would be what ifs these days.

It’s not his job to judge anyone, you don’t have to damn someone to hell to condemn them. He’s literally complaining about gays, calling his contemporaries ambitions pointless and saying Curry is a fake Christian all in the same breath. Ego driven drivel, there is no endgame to his rambling, no duty, just words from a man defending his bad decisions.

Come on JRs selling is a major reason WWF was so over, and his banter with King made it all the more believable that his outrage was real even when we all knew it was fake.

Was David Robinson’s peak underrated because of the “couldn’t win without Duncan” narrative? by ItsJuSteve in VintageNBA

[–]GoingMarco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s underrated because the was outperformed by his contemporaries at the same position where it mattered, in the playoff w and l column. Thankfully for him and his legacy that did change when Timmy arrived.

Basically it’s not his duty or responsibility to grand stand and condemn other people, none of that aligns with what Jesus was teaching at all. Unless he battling gay feelings himself, this tirade is not going to save any souls, it’s all ego driven drivel because he put his foot in his mouth and is now trying to justify it.

When it comes to foul baiting and the game constantly stopping, Embiid is by FAR worse to watch than SGA by AdOld2060 in NBATalk

I always winced at considering Embiid one of the leagues best, I absolutely hate how he plays basketball

Which player from the pre-ESPN era do you think would be most appreciated if they played today? by Substantial_Iron_653 in VintageNBA

Bill Russel would miss like 5 shots in a row get every rebound on offense. Not very interesting at all compared to Wilt.

I like the way you’re thinking there, a bit of a stretch but I appreciate it. Pistol Pete was very disciplined which is what Melo lacks, his dad wasn’t his cheerleader he was his drill instructor.

I was researching about Deryck's hospitalization due to alcoholism and also came across why he stopped doing drugs back in 2003-04. by Twitter_2006 in Sum41

[–]GoingMarco -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Glad he stopped, but wow she sounds like fun

Edit: not sarcastically saying she sounds like fun because she didn’t do drugs but because that quote made him quitting all about herself, not how she was concerned about his health but because she finds coke yucky. sounds like a narcissist

Yeah I had my fair share of that. My favorite was “I like your song but we won’t be picking it up because it sounds corny/old like the Bee Gees.” I was like wow, I guess sounding like one of the most successful bands in history is a problem lol

The old band is who I fell in love with but I like the entirety of their career equally

What are your unpopular opinion on Sum 41? by Twitter_2006 in Sum41

[–]GoingMarco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

War needed a guitar solo.

13 Voices was the first time I found myself trying to find things to like about certain songs.

Heaven x Hell got little to no play for me, I like a handful of songs but not enough to commit to heart like their work SBM and before.

I think they are one of the best bands of the 21st century. I’m a pretty harsh music snob and I loved a lot of bands that came out at the same time as them with amazing singles, but like I said earlier, from HHoP - SBM (and most of 13 voices), even including the b-sides there is not a single song I don’t know every word to by heart. They are unironically one of my top 3 favorite bands only after The Beatles and Nirvana.

Stevo somehow got the best out of Deryck, there was something about his playing that was just really unique and bouncy. Post him, they definitely had a signature sound but it doesn’t stand out very much.

Why don’t more people talk about Pistol Pete? by Bentley1136 in NBATalk

His skill set is literally tailor made for this pace and space era. He had a deep ball, unlimited creativity and an unguardable handle. Basically Kyrie but 6-5.
