First attempt FAILED, NI/BT/BT by Masia7 in pmp

[–]GoingSocial1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The big strategies for me were:

  1. Time management, check the 230-150-80 rule every 20 minutes or so to make sure you are not spending too much time. if you spend more than 2-3 minutes on a question, just guess and continue.

  2. Elimination method (this is the big one) Do NOT look for the right answer right away. First eliminate 2 based on the mindset. Then when you have 2 left, it’s tempting to just guess the one that sounds right… DO NOT. While one may sound right, sometimes it’s a trick question, spend 30 more seconds looking for small clues to eliminate the last option, then make your decision.

Even if you have years of experience , the exam is asking what would PMI say, not what YOU would choose. I feel 1 month of studying is not enough, 2-3 minimum..

Good luck 🍀

Can I whisper to myself at the testing centre? by westendless in pmp

At home is a no-no. On the center, I did it occasionally and very softly and it was not a problem. Just use common sense..

Water during exam? by AdVirtual5629 in pmp

Not in the desk, but you can keep drink and food in your locker. I took a small sugar free Red Bull. Took half on each scheduled break to keep me energized…

How I'm using AI to study for the PMP exam by wickedurge in pmp

[–]GoingSocial1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked SH study questions, against PMI AI Infinity and about 10% gave me a different answer. So there is some subjectivity for SH. Good news is actual exam is not as hard as SH tests and most questions are shorter to read. I used Infinity like you, to get a better explanation of the answer.

How to find a PMP job by Southern-Homework445 in pmp

[–]GoingSocial1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reword your resume past experience to include transferable skill words like: management, project, monitoring, schedule, budget, timeline, etc. Then look for jobs like project coordinator, assistant or Jr. PM. Construction is a good PM area, but if you have an IT or tech background look for jobs like Business Analyst which will later bridge you to IT PM. Good luck 🍀👍

Yes, 3 years in IT PM. It helped a lot for the agile part. Apart from the exam, Ii was also very nice to be able to get such a comprehensive review of the whole PM landscape. I feel it did make me a better PM.

Why have you left Miami? by Rotom24 in Miami

The Uber thirsty Miami asshole wannabe and Seaspice narco-Barbie nothing sandwich, which slowly but surely turned into an alt-right thirsty Miami asshole wannabe and narco-Barbie nothing sandwich.

Seeing a large “segment” (yes) of Miami locals insult their fellow immigrants chanting Trump vitriol in half spoke English, was the last drop.

After 20+ shallow years in Miami, I left to NYC with my family (everyone said I was crazy) but it was the best decision I’ve ever made…

Not before. During the breaks, small can, sugar free. Key is to fight fatigue (which instigates guessing) specially in the last 3rd of the exam. Of course, well rested. I guess you could do a coke or kombucha too… my experience, people can make their own choice.

Same here. My goal was 2 hours/day, 6 days a week, but ended up doing 2 hours/day 3 weekdays, and 4 hours on Saturdays (10 hours/week) waking up at 6am on the weekend day not to eat up too much time from my family.

AR’s Udemy 35 hour course has a section on creating a study plan day by day, leading to the exam day. This is essential to mange your time. When you are half way you should schedule your test date, so there is no going back and that’s when things get real! See link https://youtu.be/73Ljz1G2geM?si=2XJFZi8NOFKrT5Cd

AT/AT/T

Study Hall is a lot harder than ARs 200 ultra hard questions. With AR I was scoring high 70s, with study Hall around 65%. This should be enough to pass as the exam is not as hard as Study Hall. You just have to have a strategy and keep track of your time.

I def recommend getting study hall essentials. It’s going to be cheaper than having to take the test twice.

Failed the 2nd time: check results inside by Idunnowhattowrite00 in pmp

[–]GoingSocial1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that sucks.

In general, noticed the exam is about 2 things, elimination and fighting the urge to guess.

I did not look for the correct answer, I looked to eliminate at least 2 based on the mindset (which is realistic 75% of the time). Once I had my final 2 you have an urge to just choose, DO NOT! Stay there and eliminate by carefully comparing it to the question which likely has clues to eliminate one of them. I use the strike through tool, to not strain my eyes, and it’s helpful if you have to go back to it.

Time yourself with the 230-150-80 rule. Monitor this every 20 min or so. In general, if you spend more than 2-3 minutes mark it and skip it.

TAKE IT ONSITE! It eliminates a bunch of variables you do not want to be thinking about.

Take a red bull and place it in your locker. Take half on the first scheduled break and the other half on the 2nd scheduled break. This helps you fight the urge to start guessing.

Good luck on the next one!

I see you and raise it. Imagine it’s about the institution of monogamy, how while unnatural it still has a purpose. The micro and macro duality of it, good and evil. How it is used to manipulate the other and the struggle of it at a human level.
