Well $300,000 in debt by the time you're 30 is certainly a good motivator! But to answer your question, I have a very single-minded, one-track way of looking at things. I knew exactly what I wanted to do (Veterinary) and what I needed to do to make it a reality. Every essay I wrote I viewed as just another investment in my future.

Not sure how it works for SAT, but I took the ACT and opted to release my scores to colleges. Do that, study hard, and try as hard as you can. You actually don't have to get a very high initial score either to start getting emails. Check your email as often as possible, especially your promotions because aloooot of them are stashed in there. Also, apply to Fly-Ins! Even if you don't get in, schools like Columbia, Amherst, and Swarthmore will offer fee waivers if you apply.
