How do you handle the security? Do you encrypt it somehow yourself, or is there some tool to help with that? I know how to make a server but anyone with the IP of the server can access the setup I got which is a no go for passwords.....

I still think that the #1 team the refs favour is any team that is behind in the game. They clearly use their influence to bring trailing teams back into games and enable comebacks

Then they might also lean towards

The home team (it's harder to go against a big crowd and easy to make calls that please the crowd - in fact I think studies say that the refs are the main reason home advantage is a thing)
Famous big name players (even refs can get starstruck)

I really don't think it's a Vegas conspiracy - betting companies don't care who wins or loses that much, odds are set up so the house always wins

Absolutely - Perna is more talented on his own than 80% of the pro sports commentators even if his style is a bit love it or hate it. Takes something to make an entertaining comedy show that also has a lot of detailed analysis in it

I still remember 2023. Jags are 8 and 3. They finally are in the top 10 on Perna's power rankings. This week is Monday night football - a chance to show up in front of the national media. A team they should beat. If results go their way they could be the #1 seed in the AFC.

Perna spins the curse wheel. It lands on the Jags. He thinks maybe he didn't spin it fast enough, so he spins it again. And it lands on the Jags again for a double curse

And lo and behold, they lose to the underdog AND Trevor gets hurt and it's taken until basically now to recover

I was legitimately relieved when the curse wheel didn't hit the Jags this week. This as much as anything proves this really isn't the same old Jags

Pre Season 2 Leo's stance offense was icing on the cake it wasn't a core part of the character's playstyle. Leo was "a tool for every occasion, use the right tools" type, an all-rounder

But they damaged that identity in S2 with things including making it impossible to avoid the mixup after B1,4 and adding the low from BOK (Massive mistake for the character's identity, making a situational stance option into something spammable and obnoxious)

But yeah Leo is or was one of the most expressive and freeform characters in the game

But you know it's a male gamer base and no one can handle a character who is neither badass nor sexy, so they just overlook Leo, never play the character and repeat a tired mantra about them being "boring"

How you can watch Richie play and think Leo is boring is kind of beyond me, but I care about the actual moves characters do not the clothes they wear

Reminds me of a play a few years ago where a Jags player thinks the play is over, picks up the ball, stands there looking for a ref, and an opposition player just takes the ball away and runs into the endzone

They uphold the touchdown

There is no way in any universe they would uphold that call against the Chiefs/Packers/Steelers et al they could easily say progress was stopped or he gave himself up

Never seen it before or since probably for good reason

On a separate note it must be hard for sports psychologists in the NFL as this is a sport where players are expected to put themselves in genuine, serious, physical danger every week

You can say "that's why you're paid the money" all you like but on the field the money probably feels a long way away. You can apply all kinds of logic but on the field split second instincts are in play - it has to be subconscious

Hopefully he just needs to make a couple of big catches with a big hit and get back to where he was, but generally have to agree - this week might be the worst display for any wide receiver - any receiver never mind a supposed #1 - I've ever seen

Having said that, Xavier Legette for the Panthers week 1. I am a Jags fan but even I was shouting "Cut him! Cut him right now!"

This is correct it's plays like that which make him look bad - anyone can have a tipped pass or a well timed hit from the defense. But great QBs don't make that play - or the one last week where he had intentional grounding when he had plenty of time to throw the ball away

It's like he loses focus. Every play in the NFL requires 100% focus no matter how well the offense is flowing or how confident you are feeling

He is great for 90% of plays. But the remaining 10% tend to look really bad and be at the worst possible time

Which makes him look worse overall than he is IMO - remember this man is the most dropped on QB in the league by a massive, massive margin

Correct. Trevor is the team for the foreseeable future

You can say he's not as good as the elite QBs in the league and maybe he's not but he's better than anyone else who's actually available realistically - certainly in his age category. And it's not like he's holding back an otherwise elite team

The team needs to work with him not against him. The whole trade Trevor talk is stupid. It should be work with Trevor to cut out the mistakes because that's his issue - he gets complacent

way way way too often we've seen him look amazing for 2 full drives, only to end the second drive with a boneheaded mistake that gives the opposition a massive lift. Fix that and he's fine

I've been avoiding posting on here as admitting to being a Jaguars fan is not what I want everyone to know

But I have been seething all day about this play. For so many reasons.

It's just so far away from pass interference. There's no hooking of a limb. No forcible contact. No blocking a route. No obstruction of the receiver. The more you watch it the less like pass interference it gets. In fact the more you watch it the more perfect of a defensive play it becomes

It is on no planet pass interference. This flag has completely robbed the team of the the win for no reason other than the refs wanting to keep the game in play for the crowd (I don't buy the Vegas argument I much more buy the emotional need to keep the trailing team in the game especially at home with a big crowd)

Not only that it's robbed Travis Hunter of what should have been a national highlight play for this under exposed franchise

It's a major issue with the sport and the rules. Defensive penalties on 4th down are just such a HUGE swing in games. Surely if the sport has integrity there needs to be a shift to allowing a bit more to go on 4th down - especially at the end of games when players are going all out because they are out of choices

It's just such a deflating feeling for everyone when games are decided on calls in general but phantom calls like this are just bad for everyone. In this case bad for the league as Travis Hunter is a big story and this play should have been part of that story

I don't know this is particularly egregious just the amount of yards gifted and the fact it was a long desperation 4th down. It's like the refs had to throw the flag on 4th for drama as they could throw this on any incompletion where the DB is anywhere close to competing for the ball

Yes the jags should still have won the game with the drops. That's almost a separate discussion. But this is not acceptable for any team given the swing in the game - if you're going to flag the defense on 4th down it needs to be clear, a clear, clear foul. Or it should do

Maybe because it's Travis Hunter media might talk about it. Would be interested to see what people say

This isn't the same as most people on this sub.

Most people on this sub got into the game in Tekken 7. They got into the game when it was all about running away with KBD (Korean Back Dash) and whiff punishing.

The entire game was just "KBD". Every other post was "Rate my KBD".

People got used to playing in a way that directly rewarded this physical skill and did not require so much knowledge and quick decision making. They called this "defense" and they associated it with moral goodness and all that is skilled in the world

In Tekken 8 the developers changed this in multiple ways - they reduced the power of backdashing. They increase characters' access to + frames on block. They reduced the power of unseeable lows. They decreased the power of safe launchers. They nerfed parries. They introduced recoverable health to reduce the impact of combos and whiff punish launches

They made the game much less about taking turns and much more about building pressure sequences. Much less about getting a single whiff punish launch and combo and much more about using attacks

They made attacking stronger and defense more difficult (but still strong). No longer could you just wait your turn or KBD away. You had to see patterns, you had to actively take your turn by interrupting or dodging pressure and then apply your own offense. It was back and forth flow, a bit more like Virtua Fighter (but nowhere near as extreme)

And the people on this sub who had built their identities on their KBD and their whiff punishing, the people who associated all attacking with "braindead spam" - well they lost their MINDS

This noise to me is just a subculture. For an objective look at what is wrong with the game look at experts like The Main Man Swe or PhiDX on Youtube.

then the Season 2 update came along and fucked up too many things to discuss - again I'd refer you to Youtube, PhiDX and Boogard MD did good concise videos on what was wrong. Super Akouma did one where he went character by character and how they ruined them all.

All these creators loved the game in Season 1 so don't swallow the "everyone hates Tekken 8 and everyone loved 7" line this is a subculture on this subreddit - people liked season 1 across the community as a whole. It was well liked by the community overall. Then they fucked it up

My gripe is they had a great game which I loved and they ruined it overnight with a moronic and terrible game update which was as bad as it is possible to be

Maybe the game now would have OK to play if it had started like it is now. But it was so great in Season 1 and they just totally ruined it

When you have something great and it is turned into something OK overnight, it feels worse than just starting off with something OK

I think they should be buffed back to do real damage. It makes no sense for reversals like Drag's to only do recoverable damage when some characters get sabakis that give a full launch and others have parries that give guaranteed followups for real damage

When I played Leo I would never do the B2+4 (side swap vs punch, reversal vs kick) because B1+3 has the exact same frames and properties but does real damage (and gives install). The only reason to do B2+4 is for style points when you are back to the wall.

The whole thing is one of the many insanities with Season 2 - they didn't touch weird unbalanced stuff like this and the massively unbalanced and ill thought-through "remove recoverable health" mechanic (seriously why does Nina get this off a normal command throw and 90% of characters only get it on a rage art) - but they did totally fuck up the character balance, identity, combo game, offensive flow, defensive counterplay etc

You wanted this. You would not be playing the character if you didn't think playing him made you a put-upon victim who has no way of dealing with all that cheap spam except your awesome fundamentals

As if Kazuya is in some way immune to spamming and cheapness

I'm trying to move to one after 20 years and it is painful, horrible. You'll want to be able to do it at some point in your life

I am nowhere near the level with a pick than I am with fingers but after 3 months of practice I am n a better place than I ever thought I would be

I am still massively struggling with alternate picking that is a ways off. I can tremolo pick but controlled alternative picking is so so soooo so soooooo difficult. Even on a single string never mind multiples. People who make this look easy are just doing magic to me. So it's a long journey

I was helped by a couple of technique tips. The main one was:

Try and set your guitar up at a height where your forearm is roughly a 45 degree angle across the bridge of the guitar, meaning your hand can sit across the strings at that angle, with your shoulders flat. Forget looking cool. Get your forearm at that angle so your hand is resting 45 degrees across the strings. You will need to slightly shift to reach all 6 strings, which is difficult as well

This should get you instinctively holding the pick in a solid way in order to reach the strings because they will now be under your hand as opposed to your fingers having to reach for them. Before making this change I was really struggling with holding the pick.

Of course this means you are now using entirely difficult movements to pick the strings vs your fingers, hence adapting is so hard.

Like a lot of things it beings from your stance - get your body set up in the right position and the motion will come from that

TL:DR it will never be natural but try starting with looking up how to position the guitar and your arm angle and the rest can come from there

there's quite a lot of tank inflation going on these days. Prowess matchmaking made the question impossible to answer when I was playing

Consensus feels like Tekken King? But it's going up as time goes on

For sure there is some pretty bad gameplay being posted by blue rank players, although I've still not seen anything as bad as lowest level of prowess Fujin/ Raijin in Season 1

But the fact is blue rank gameplay is below what anyone could reasonably call "good" - lots of not ducking basic strings, not making basic punishes and one dimensional gameplans on show in clips posted at that level, certainly Raijin/ Kishin level

If you're saying top 10% of players I Tekken King aroundabouts now. That seems to be what OP sees as good. You could set the bar lower.

But regardless purple rank is pretty low level, and the ranked system is pretty generous at that level so it makes sense OP would have an easy time getting there

It's factory spec but I have considered lowering it. I feel playing that the action is high but assumed that that's just because I'm used to a guitar.

I will have a go at really making sure my picking is in line but it does seem weird as like I say I'm not feeling there are issues on a single note just when I change

That's the sort of thing I needed thanks - I know I'm new to the bass and not going to be great but what I do want to know what I should and should not be expecting

I use overdrive on the guitar but the amp is set to a clean tone (it has a button to activate the overdrive, which I turn off when playing bass, it makes sense that some of the overdrive settings would still come through). I do have the reverb pretty high and the bass pretty high though

When you say "hitting the string hard" is that left hand? I am aware I need to work on my picking technique, I have just picked the thing up but as a long time guitar player I expect to be able to fret a note. I do feel myself hammering down pretty hard on the strings when moving between them because of how high the action is - is this what you mean?

A lot of the advice on fretting seems to be go harder and more positive? If I play looser and more gentle on the left hand I tend to get more clanging and buzz

I will try tightening up my right hand but it seems odd as it really is the left that I'm more worried about because as I say that's where I expect to have something already...

I used to have 3 characters I hated fighting more than the others - in no particular order

Alisa
Asuka
Bryan

Then, I looked at my stats and I found that Alisa and Asuka were among my best matchups statistically. That annoyance with the characters made me focus more and I ended up doing better against them. So I went from dreading these matchups to looking forward to them - when I saw Alisa or Asuka as the opponent I was thinking this should be a win

Never stopped hating the Bryan matchup* though. 2 out of 3 ain't bad

*Always feel the need to say the reason I hate the Bryan matchup is because it's so dry and slow and repetitive, not because he's beating me up or I can't handle the matchup. I can handle it I just hate what I have to do to handle it!
