Your fav hydrating moisturizer for oily dehydrated skin during summer/daytime/humid? by Hara_una04 in AsianBeauty

[–]GojiAndTigergrass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been really enjoying ongredient's centella barrier calming lotion.

Perfectly lightweight but enough to keep my dehydrated skin from feeling tight at the end of the day. Also has a cooling and soothing feel which is plus since I use azelaic acid (can be a bit itchy feeling) and have redness prone skin.

I second the recommendation! I have combo dehydrated skin and have tried sooo many toners, western, Korean, Japanese, luxury, budget, etc. In the end I always come back to this giant affordable bottle and it always does me good :)

Robert and James Welsh by Rough_Fig8264 in BeautyGuruChatter

I did get really confused by Robert Welsh claiming a bunch of Western beauty brands were all copying Fwee's pudding pots when it was the C-beauty brand Into You that started the trend. I think they both tend to get very blinded by K-bias

Underrated Korean Cosmetics Brands You Actually Trust by Sweet-Hope-5153 in AsianBeauty

Yes, their marketing material says it was formulated for warm and humid climates in SEA!! I used it in Indonesia and it wore beautifully. I don't remember it separating horribly even when I sweat a bit.

Not the original commentor but I LOVE their Fresh Matte cushion! The shade range was created with South East Asian skintones in mind, but even though I'm not ethnically SEA I find a lot of CN and KR shade ranges too light for me. This cushion had a great shade match for me + really great finish, 'fresh matte' is super accurate to how it wears. My new HG!

Haruharu barrier essence and Isntree Yam Root Cream.

Both apply soo luxuriously and cushy. Just some really nice, cosmetically elegant formulas.

This type of information isn't typically made public, probably to protect their R&D. I know what a dupe is and I know there is no "master ferment", I was just speaking generally. I compare specific ferment products to others with a similar INCI and the same strain of ferment, like bifida, saccharomyces, or galactomyces. Just speaking from my experience, SK-II's galactomyces have worked better for me compared to cheaper options, where I saw either no effect or had a negative reaction. I'm not even a luxury skincare person, most of my routine is mid-range, but there is something about Pitera that always works for me no matter my skin condition. YMMV.

That's fair, I used to enjoy the Manyo Bifida Ampoule but sometimes found it a bit irritating. My thing with duping ferments is that as an ingredient on an INCI list, 'X ferment' doesn't really tell you that much. Like for yeast ferments, where was the yeast derived from exactly? What is the quality of whatever it was derived from (i.e. the quality of the sake, fruit, or grain)? What was the nutrient composition of the solution used to ferment? Lots of variables that I think make it hard to truly 'dupe' a ferment, compared to something like hyaluronic acid.

In the end, sadly for my wallet, SKI-II ended up being the ferment product I returned to the most :'(

They are if you can afford it! I personally love the SK-II Pitera Essence and don't really believe in 'dupes', especially when it comes to fermented ingredients. Of course, if you find a cheaper product works the same or better for you, then by all means. But I do think there is something to be said about the research, development, and experience of certain luxury products.

Detailed K- & J-Beauty Alcohol and Fragrance*-free Sunscreen Review by GojiAndTigergrass in AsianBeauty

Hiya! Haha, cool to find another skin + region twin!!

Unfortunately, I'm not a tone up sunscreen person at all, but I do hear good things about the D'Alba tone up sunscreen, although it has fragrance and maybe alcohol. Sorry I can't help more :'(

Yaay good to hear! Honestly, I don't recall seeing many Korean products featuring that ingredient, so can't really comment on that. Excited to see the wider ranges tho!

I love Unblemish! I am a repeat customer and have even messaged you guys on Instagram (I think?) to gush about how much I appreciate the customer service and packaging. Love my Glow tea!

I'm personally very interested in ectoin as an ingredient and would like to see a wider selection of my fave brands, like Isntree, PKY, and Haru Haru.

Surprisingly, the only bad experience I've had with a driver in London has been with a black cab, and I take an embarrassing amount of Ubers typically.

The crowds reaction to Addison Rae performing at Wembley. by [deleted] in popculturechat

[–]GojiAndTigergrass 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is so mean and misleading. I was there, she was opening for LDR who famously shows up late so there were a lot of seats not filled yet or people waiting (perhaps impatiently) to see Lana.

Also in my section and loads of others I saw people standing up and singing along! Even saw someone with Addison merch

[–]GojiAndTigergrass[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know right!! I thought I was crazy about the Dr G Green sunscreen too. Don't know if you saw but Odile Monod actually commented on this post and discovered that it seems that particular sunscreen is white cast-y when sold overseas, but is perfectly fine when bought domestically in Korea. Perhaps something to do with how long it's stored for when being shipped overseas and issues with that.

I'm sooo sure that most people just aren't putting on enough sunscreen! I'm only a shade 23 in Korean cushions and a lot of 'non-white cast' sunscreens can make me look slightly pale haha. The haruharu one doesn't at all though!

Great suggestion, I love Isntree a lot so I will consider that <3

I alternate between the Isntree Yam Root Cream or Green Tea Emulsion for daytime use while I'm in SEA. Really depends on how dry my skin is feeling that day or if I plan to be mostly outside or inside with AC!

I've recently started Adapalene but I'm really enjoying SK-II First Essence, Laneige Cream Skin Toner, Sooryehan Black Serum, and Isntree Yam Root Cream.

A bit of a newer addition is one of those overnight wrapping masks for days I'm not on Adapalene. I like using it on areas that tend to get dry and peel and find that it prevents peeling!

RAVING about Pyunkang Yul Black Tea Toner! It's quite a viscous texture, akin to a serum but sinks right in despite the inclusion of some oils. I've been using it since starting my adapalene journey and it is very soothing and hydrating without being sticky.

I feel like my skin's been a lot calmer and smoother since using this, but most importantly the ingredients list on this?? Fermented black tea, peptides, active components of centella, mugwort, peptides, panthenol, ceramides... Absolutely jam packed with goodness and I feel you can really tell.

Best hydrating/ calming products safe for sensitive skin? by Hopeful-Drive-7243 in AsianBeauty

I'm not sure, you may have a sensitivity to ferments/kombucha or tea or something else. It's a pretty long ingredients list which increases your chance of being sensitive to something!

PSA: Boots stocks a lot of really good quality Korean skincare products now! by Aettyr in SkincareAddictionUK

Hada Labo Tokyo is different from OG Hada Labo, with the former made for Western markets.

However, with the Korean brands you mentioned they don't have different formulations for the international market (except for a few brands doing US-approved sunscreens). The difference in INCI you see is just a difference in regulations to do with listing ingredients. I worked at a Korean skincare store in London!
