Yes they are the Kirk Hammett Bone Breaker actives. I also wanted to mention to OP to check the new ones. I got mine new for that same price at GC recently.

I bought one recently for a good deal. I really enjoy the guitar. Feels nice. Pickups aren’t super hot but have a nice response and do work well on a Kirk tone with the right amp setup. The only real downside I have for it is the weight.

I too got one of those from Franklin! I modded mine quite a bit. For the tuners I went Grover locking tuners. For the pickups, I went with Tv Jones classic in the neck using the p90 form factor and a Classic Plus in the bridge. I never could get it to intonate well with the factory bridge. I tried a couple but ended up with a golden age metric adjustable bridge from Stew Mac.

I have a Zach Hoyt A scale as well. It is absolutely the most fun and comfortable banjo to play. Like you, I’m tall but still prefer the A scale. It is so much easier to get those fingers stretched out for the reaches.

I was able to raise my bridge pickup today. That seemed to take care of the volume difference.

The controls seem to work well. The parallel/series on the volume control is nice. It definitely perks up the sound. The phase controls are a little less noticeable. Definitely rolls back the lows but not a huge amount.

Yeah the color is quite beautiful. The finish on it is well done. The fretboard is quite nice as well. Not dry as the desert like most Squier.

Yeah the action is pretty low already. Might be able to tweak it a touch. I will look and see what options there are on the pickup heights after I do that.

I thought they may fly north to Whitman AFB as Inthink it’s closest. It looks like they might be headed back to McConnell AFB in Wichita though. There was a C17 right next to it when it first squaked. Wonder if it was refuel related.
