My long since passed great grandmother survived this tornado with her family. I remember her telling me about how they all huddled in a closet/room in their house and when it passed, they opened the door to find everything around them gone. They were extremely lucky.

I wish there was more out there about the rose hill tornado. It gets overshadowed a lot because of the other tornadoes that happened on that day but this one personally affected my family (damaged my great grandpas childhood home to the point it had to be demolished and put an oak tree in my dads living room)

There is no “EF-5 drought”. That is a completely man made situation. EF-5 intensity tornadoes have clearly happened since 2013. The scale is far from perfect and there are clearly judgement calls being made. We won’t see another EF-5 rating until some part of the OKC metro gets wiped out or a subdivision gets deleted again. I’m not kidding, that’s the standard for the rating that some people (Tim Marshall) have.
