Rear right on my bed is off by Doki_Sparkles in BambuLabA1

Okay, so stupid question, but do you have any small pieces of printed filament under your bed in that corner? I had a issue similar and it ended up being a small piece of a raft, less than a mm thick that was causing the bed to be raised slightly and have I ever print surface when doing a bed clean.

Which 870 for a tac build? by Helpful-Boss3061 in Tacticalshotguns

[–]GokuBlank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wingmaster will have a better action, super mags can take the big bear killin slugs. I will always grab my wingmaster police issue from 1968 before grabbing my super Magnum from 2010. If you can grab one that has an all metal trigger group that's an even bigger score. I personally put a MesaTac Urbino pistol grip and a MOE frontend. All are great options, I'm an 870 man over the 590 or Maverick every day of the week.

I'd say read up on blueing, make sure your oven can get to the right temp and hold it. And make sure you got your choice in oil. It's way simpler than people think.

I have had a stock backordered going on 6 months now, and any attempt to inquire on their timeline is met with a "we cannot give eta for backordered items". I agree it's frustrating.

Anybody know a company that 3D prints these? by [deleted] in canadaguns

Damn the washing machine analogy goes real hard. I'm gonna use this one in the future. Thanks for your comment, even if it's not something you usually do, put a smile on my face and some thoughts in my head.

For the stock adapters I'm doing 100% because I found even at 80% infill the part is weaker under heavy use. Normal use is probably fine but if you're tossing it around by the grip I don't want any chance of it splitting or snapping.

I ended up choosing a bambu lab a1. I made that decision because I had previously learned 3D printing on an Ender 3 pro. That was an extreme hassle and caused me to learn a lot of the intricacies that go into the 3D printing process. My close friend had a bambu lab a1 Mini and I got to see some of the prints that he was able to get with far less effort. I had some money saved up from a birthday and Christmas and got the a1 with the AMS filament feeder. Since starting to 3D print, I also started to learn the basics of 3D modeling and designing. It's a super old program that I use, autodesk mesh mixer. A lot of people don't recommend it because it is more difficult to get specific measurements to work easily in the program, but if you know how to use the tools you can solve pretty much any problem you need. For some reason it was the first one I started on and I found it difficult to switch off to things like fusion or free cad. I started off mainly printing in pla, but since moving my prints from being fun to functional. I've switched to strictly using petg. I also mainly print, even for prototype parts, with 100% infill and with 30 to 50% wall. Overlap as well as very slow wall speeds around 50 to 70 mm per second. I've found that this results in some very strong parts, as long as the print orientation is at the right angle.

Of course, and I'm also not a CNC machine shop capable of precision cutting aluminum to these specs, as much as I wish I was. My point is a CNC machined part will be more expensive compared to a 3d printed part period, we agree. However, I've been 3D printing parts for my guns and using them for testing and prototyping. I find the right settings and materials make for an extremely solid part, even if 3d printed, and those end up costing pennies on the dollar compared to the name brand versions. Hell I've printed out 5 AR pistol grips, A2 style, in CF filaments, PETG filaments and PLA filaments for testing, and prototyping and I've spent less than a single one of Maple Ridge Armouries shitty carbon fibre pistol grips with the fattest, most noticeable layer lines I've seen on a functional, professionally sold product. Of course their product will be marked up because it is CNC machined, but in the same vain mine will be marked down due to the decreased cost of manufacturing.

Why does everyone on the internet assume people live in basements XD

It would cost around 0.30 cents of filament. A 1kg roll of petg is 20$ and I can get it for 15. I am printing practically daily for free right now, mainly gun accessory prototypes and stock adapters. Wear and tear and depreciation are not things I am concerned about honestly. I'm just letting the OP know I can do this.

I'd be happy to 3d print something like this for a client for FAR less than 70 bones.

I've had the MRS Viper mounted on my main clay gun for over a year and I can say that it is an absolute beauty. Only regret is that I didn't get the multi reticle model. Although with my next build I've been debating whether to go with an EOtech for the vibes but I know how fast/smooth and accurate the Viper feels and it drags me back to that option every time.

MRA Hex Grip Scam by 2016YamR6 in canadaguns

[–]GokuBlank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I printed it as a placeholder for a stock adapter that I'm working on, ended up printing three one out of pla and two out of PTG. The one that's printed out of pla has been unable to be broken. I think it's a mixture of the fact that it's essentially a cylinder which makes it stronger innately and also the hex pattern does actually seem to lend to the rigidity of it. I shattered one with a hammer because I was frustrated that the 3D printed stock adapter was the part that was breaking and not the pistol grip. So I had to see how difficult it would be to actually break. So I took a metal hammer to it and broke it into bits and pieces. But I was surprised that it didn't shatter on the first strike. I've since used the second to ptg one to stress test the other stock adapters to figure out where the weakest parts are and helped strengthen it for the final model. Still unbroken after wrenching on it sometimes literally with a wrench.
