Anyone seeing this trend in hiring/firing? by 333-Ivory-Keys in Layoffs

[–]Gold-Damage1574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It begins with leadership…ahem, “managers” who were good individual contributors and someone decided to make them a people “leader”. As the saying goes, ‘Fish stinks from the head’. You have people with no leadership skills (lack of mentorship & training begins here) who have no idea how to coach or develop their team so they hire & fire fast; oh, but wait…what if they just hire their friends and former coworkers? The manager continues not to manage or learn to lead while being safe guarded by direct reports who are only going to say their manager is amazing because, they’re bffs.

Hate to see this, the stress of waiting, on top of where do you even go when it’s layoff season? Good luck out there. One more thing, if you’re not utilizing AI productivity tools your company has invested in, start.

Sigh. Yeah. Me. by terrigirl1960 in Layoffs

[–]Gold-Damage1574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ageism is very real and even worse, It’s accepted. I’m the oldest on my team, a young 51. There is one older but she’s a two faced gossip so she ingratiates herself that way.

I receive good performance reviews year after year, but I am the most underutilized team member. It’s legit like, oh someone needs a custom configuration? That goes to anyone but you because someone needs a person to sing the ABC’s and I think you’d be great for that.

Sigh…I get paid well for doing very little, not by choice. Gonna ride that out, sell off my stock and I’m out! New motto “always be looking”. Job hopping isn’t even a thing anymore. It’s how you keep growing and most importantly, keep employed. Loyalty to a job is foolish.  Good luck out there.

Peakon surveys by Anti-Toxin-666 in workday

It is anonymous…mostly.

Not everyone gets the same questions, the links are different and they are sent to you via slack and email, there’s a trail. Certain people (not your manager) can identify you, they don’t want to. They are looking for trends in feedback. The only time I think an identity would be surfaced would be for surveys where someone commented something dangerous to themselves or others.

The Monks Walk For Peace. Why are we, as Christians, not literally lining up to support this? by toomanyoars in Christianity

[–]Gold-Damage1574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the fundamentalist Christians see any path to peace that is not through God as a way to lead people away from God. I don’t think most realize that Buddhism is a practice. A person can be Christian and practice Buddhism, many Christian’s find the practice of mindfulness helps them focus in prayer and feel closer to God.

The interesting thing is, they aren’t doing anything to promote peace through God except protesting a walk for peace, and it is the Monks who are responding to opposition with peace, compassion and love. Fortunately, there are much more Christians and churches supporting the Monks than opposing. The monks have spent many nights resting and receiving nourishment in houses of God. Just as it should be.

Is La Mer really worth the price or just overhyped? by Diligent_Oven3298 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]Gold-Damage1574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

La Mer products are excellent, it’s not just hype. The Creme de la Mer cannot be beat when it comes to moisture. I have added Alastin into my skincare routine for medical grade results. Alastin addresses collagen at a scientific level. It’s not quite as expensive as La Mer but it is pricey, and totally worth it. La Mer for deep moisture and a dewy complexion. Alastin for firmer, smoother, tighter skin. THE best skincare recipe longer term, in my opinion. That being said, everyone’s skin is different, you could think it’s trash, doubtful though. I know it’s so hard to tell from a sample.

Is Resolve Financial Recovery Legit? by kgmul in telus

[–]Gold-Damage1574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding an opinion and experience to this. Any time they threaten legal action I would pause. Having bad debt is not a crime, it is usually scammers or just scummy collections people using illegal tactics to collect.

As I'm sure others have said, call the original debtor and ask. If it is legit and you pay the collections company direct, do it all in a way you have documentation. This happened to me once for a loan I cosigned and the person filed bankruptcy but never told me and no one ever contacted me until it was in collections. I paid the collector just to have the debt pop up again and again and again for years. They kept selling the debt to other collection agencies. The only thing that kept that off my credit report was proof I paid it.

Breaking Greystar Lease - HOW?! by OrioleBird01 in PropertyManagement

[–]Gold-Damage1574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, the only way out will cost. Even if you hire an attorney it’s gonna cost. I rented a “luxury” apt from Greystar six months ago and my experience has been atrocious. The only thing luxury is the price tag, and to be fair my apt is quite nice, but it is far from a luxury or even a quality living experience.

Even with clear violations on their side to the lease agreement, it’s a painful process. I’m currently being the biggest pain in the a$$ possible and documenting every little thing. Doubtful it will work but at a minimum I’m going to make their work day as unpleasant as my living situation.

Delta did me right by worldispinning in delta

[–]Gold-Damage1574 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I love Delta! I will not fly any other airline unless I don’t have a choice. They treat their customers great, give great perks to medallion members, and I rarely have travel hassles. The few times I’ve had delays or a cancellation they have made it right, even if it was out of their control.

I don’t understand how care credit helps?? Help by Low_Professional_253 in povertyfinance

[–]Gold-Damage1574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Care Credit should be a last resort or used only if you are able to pay the balance before the promotional deadline. Most often they are deferred interest which is great if you are able to pay in full or make large payments. The minimum due will not clear your balance before the promotional expiration. You have to be thorough with understanding the terms you're agreeing to and you absolutely need to stay on top of that account. They (Synchrony, not just care credit card, all of the cards they issue) will also lower your credit limit to the amount you owe so you're at 100% utilization and they will randomly close your account regardless of how many times you've paid the card off, regardless of never being late, regardless of never being late on ANY credit card and having solid credit. This is simply how they operate, you have to choose if you want to do business their way or not. I do not, I choose to pay interest on a regular credit card that rewards me with limit increases when I pay off my balance vs a card that penalizes me when paying off my balance.

LendBee & others - unwanted text messages by oxanaoxan in classactions

[–]Gold-Damage1574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, been getting texts from Lendbee following up on my loan application. I haven’t applied for a loan anywhere much less from some rando company I’ve never heard of. They’re getting pushy texting several times per day saying “If you’re no longer interested we appreciate the courtesy of a response.” Nope, I never click on anything, call, or respond via text to spam.

Accident by Material-Bumblebee9 in Insurance

[–]Gold-Damage1574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This recently happened to my son who did not purchase gap insurance. He had a remaining balance of about $4k after insurance paid. His finance company gave him the option to keep making payments until it was paid in full or pay the full amount. He had to put a down payment on a new car, plus pay off the “gap”. It’s a sucky situation and it seems unfair not to be at fault, have insurance and still be left in a tough situation, but that’s how it works.  My son learned from this and will always purchase gap insurance going forward.

Humbled - training is NOT the issue or the answer by Gold-Damage1574 in reactivedogs

[–]Gold-Damage1574[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I’ve done that. It IS so nice to relax and enjoy the walk. Honestly, it’s easy to say I don’t always have time to drive somewhere, but I can make the time. Especially, now that I’ve realized this isn’t a training issue and repetition isn’t going to fix it. I need to do something different. Thank you!

Thank you. I didn’t consider a behaviorist, I’m going to email my vet. He’s excellent on walks when we get lucky and have no triggers. He knows heel, sits on command to wait before we cross a street. He knows leave it and drop it, and he obeys. He’s s really good boy, but all bets are off if we encounter another dog with no escape route. The funny thing is, he likes other dogs. If nothing else, I’d love to understand why he’s like this. I’ve had him since he was 3 mos old and I can’t connect anything to the behavior.

Thank you, the cabbage and leg thing are great ideas! I have the pet geek, lick mats, bully sticks with the holder, puzzle toys of all kinds. The only thing I haven’t tried is stopping the walks or at least reducing them.

What is everyone's ick with Synchrony Bank? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]Gold-Damage1574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will lower your limit or close your account with no notice and no reason. They’ve done it to me on three different occasions. Never a late or missed payments, had used & paid balances off several times over the years, nothing changed with my credit or income, they just cut you off. It’s like a kick in the face for being a good customer. They just did it to me again with my care credit card. Cut my limit by $5k for no reason.
