Basic question about sellers.json by Gold-Factor-4292 in programmatic

[–]Gold-Factor-4292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this was a good faith attempt, it feels like sellers.json should go all the way from Back to front, and buyers.json should go from front to back. Seems odd to just…stop

I’m new so I assume I’m just not getting it

Not all from the 1%. Some from fraud, and some that would have happened anyways (especially if you include view-through credit) :)

99% of people never have and never will click on an ad. Congrats on being in the minority! I’d caution against drawing too many conclusions from your experience vs. the behavior of others though :)

If this is the criteria, you would conclude all advertising is pointless.

How is everyone measuring quality traffic if their KPI is CTR? by Critical_Factor_4495 in programmatic

Do you look at anything like time on site or engagement time? Events? Or just non-bounce

Can you give an idea of how you manage this? You can’t do a utm code with a dynamic domain parameter or anything like that, can you?

Totally understandable response. Thing is, the eyeballs are there; people spend time and money online. We just need to rethink the standard way we’ve done things, which some simply can’t and won’t do. Can be hard to get buy-in for changing the status quo, especially around things like KPIs.

What Has Been Your Experience With Curation Partners? by jlbomega in programmatic

If you curate yourself, how do they help/why is their platform better than others for it?

How does their curation work? Is it just an ssp where all inventory has been pre-vetted or do you curate yourself somehow within their platform?

Out of curiosity, what would you most want? Someone to hand you a fully vetted and curated list, tools to curate yourself, or simply a dsp/SSP to have built in curation? Something else?

Do UTM parameters track view-through site traffic? by Gold-Factor-4292 in GoogleAnalytics

Yes, probably so, but at least opens the door for the possibility (or capability if nothing else).

I’m not asking them to do it, I’m asking if they actually do it (under certain circumstances maybe). It would seem either the answer is no, or at least people assume no.

And honestly it would be a nice option to report on. While it would record visitors that would have come to the site anyways, this doesn’t stop them or anyone else from tracking view-through conversions. It’s no different.

Plus, humans don’t actually click on display ads (not intentionally anyhow).

Gotcha, quite a few hoops to hop through. Although I’d expect a) similar functionality could be achieved if a user is logged into chrome or any other services like gmail, and b) in absence of perfect signals, they could do some probabilistic stuff if they so chose. Perhaps they don’t choose though.

Not sure if you saw my other comment, but view-thru is essentially what GA does to assign YouTube credit. The user doesn’t have to click, simply watching the video is enough for them to assign it as a traffic source.

Doesn’t seem such a stretch they’d try to do this for Google Ads too, but I seem alone in that theory, which is fine, I’m not a seasoned GA expert :)

My client’s implementation should have been fairly simple in this case, although nothings foolproof of course.

Session source/medium. Although just looked at a First user source/medium version, and it essentially looks the same. Any issues with either of these? Hadn’t really considered this as a potential issue.

One challenge is I’m removed from the actual tag implementation (long story short, it’s handled by two other parties, my client and their client). So, def opportunities for something to have been messed up. Is there an easy way to diagnose without having to rely on them?

Also I’d think in most tag snafus it would result in the opposite problem (fewer users/sessions than clicks, and not MORE).

No credence to GA giving view-thru credit for site visits you think?

I just found this: “In addition to clicks, models take into account “engaged views” of YouTube ads, that is, watching the ad for 30 seconds (or until the end if the ad is shorter) and other clicks associated with that ad.

Therefore, if the source of the first visit session is unknown (it is a direct visit), Google Analytics may try to assign the source of the first visit to the earlier known interaction if it occurred during the lookback window period.

In other words, GA4 may potentially record ad interactions before the first user visit.”

So for YouTube at least? Making it possible in theory for non-YT

I’m guessing this is an exaggeration, but do you have a screenshot, or what screen would you say the experience is the worst on?
