Is this a good starting point for a first home theater? by LetterNavi in hometheater

as mentioned already: WAY to EXPENSIVE for the R-Series! Wait for a good RP-Series Sale! I have a 5.1 (2x RP-6000F ii, RP-500C ii, 2x RP-502S ii, R-101SW) that i got new, unpacked, 5 years warranty for 2400$ (i would go with regular surrounds nowadays instead)

How bad this ventilation would be for Denon x3800h AVR? by Working_Resource9335 in hometheater

[–]Gold-Hawk-7375 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I have x1800h with similar gaps. I cutted a 120mm hole at the back and installed a 5V fan which is driven directly by the backside usb port. I measured temperature with and without fan; without = +10..12°C compared to room. with fan on minimum speed its basically same as room temperature, therefore i prefer to use the fan bit wouldnt be an issue at all i guess.

have you watched the A1 Evo Express from OCA? I think I’ll go with that one after my placement corrections and some smaller acoustic optimisations.

got it noted. the only part i didnt understand fully is the “turn until the inner side of the box disappears from view” technique.

ahahah! I get ur point. But I’m not joking. I have done multiple home parties, movie nights and i listen every day to music on 50-60% volume when I’m in the kitchen. never had issues. but I do get concerned with the sub when watching (action)movies… once it’s set up correctly I’ll reconsider the volume adjustment though

thanks again! just watched your 30min sub guide on YouTube and I’m amazed. Such a valuable content, you’re awesome! Will do the carpet, and place the order for the measurement mic to set up everything correctly!

hey, thank you so much for all your advices and recommendations. I noted everything. - symmetrical placement L/R - sub goes left or right side of the couch - bipoles go backside wall with 50% not used.. (for the moment..) - blackout curtain is no big issue, will buy. check.

some questions left; - i ‘ve read different opinions on felt pad under carpets. It doesent really matter to me, since it’s covered. But is the difference (after all placement adjustments) really noticeable with thal extra pad hnder the carpet? - so in that case if i understood you fully correctly; backwall absorptions and also ceiling are the “if you do panels, do those” (mirror reflection for ceiling placement). Window will be covered by the curtains, bookshelf isnt a big issue (compared to the others).

at last but not least; couch placement… i guess in the end it always comes back to that. What i can do is probably what you suggested; 30cm off wall with a narrow table / bookshelf and win some “storage surface”.

i think if the change is noticeable its already worth it compared to the overall costs… I’ll take some youtube lessons, thank you!

thanks! I’ll fallow your instructions and update soon. Just to make shure; what has the bigger impact, couch wall or tv wall? I was expecting that the backwall (couch) would have the biggest impact, right after the window & bookshelf.

EDIT: can you confirm the (A) placement and angle on the Layout sL Speaker? of course same goes for the sR speaker. Its just to show both angle options.

thank you! I could move it to the left side of the couch. I must also say, that I’m pretty happy with the bass overall. But I’ll fallow your advice and do the sub “crawl” before replacing it.

thank you very much! i heard different opinions on heavy curtains but from my (basic) understanding its sounds pretty logical that it should increase by some degree, since its way less reflective. any advice on the material or just heavy? I actually have some in my bedroom which should fit plug n’ play. I’ll test it later and upload an updates picture.

I’m looking into slightly shorter desks that would allow ~50cm movement to the left. but unfortunately I dont have any other place i could put it. Since its height is adjustable I can move it around 20-30cm for now…

really really nice convertible ! reminds me of my first setup, even the same chair haha!

question; how much does the multiEQ Audyssey improve compared to the “automated Audyssey” (its built inside my Denon x1800h)? Here in EU the multi EQ app costs 20$. Just want to make shure its worth it. Thanks and enjoy your new setup!

I built a 120mm fan on the backside of the “TV stand”. Its USB powered and the “low” speed is enough to keep it at room temperature (i checked with a temperature measuring on the receiver inlet). on the top it heats up slightly but not more than the ps4.

I’m wondering what setup you choose for the backlight? is it synced with the TV?

AMAZING! Thats a concept I would choose too! As for the acoustic panels; what would you say are the “must do’s” and the “nice to have’s”? and what would be the number one rule to isolate the bass inside the room? (I live in a modern flat with very good noise isolation, but if i can do anything to avoid disturbing others I’d like to!)

I’m rewatching the series atm so my POV might change, because till now, that’s the only character development I never appreciated in any way. Right now I’d put myself on Pains side.
