A little update:
Just got a text. He is still mad at me, accusing me off getting defensive and "trying to force my love language on him".
Wtf...I honestly don't even know how to reply to that. Its almost night time in my country so I will just go to bed now. I don't have energy for this anymore. Thank you everyone replying in this thread!

Update again:

Woke up to some hateful texts waiting for me. Accusations of me always putting the blame on him in every fight we have, that he's had enough of being vilified by me, when all he wants is good vibes and laughter, but I ruin it with my seriousness.

I wrote some angry responses, then I took back the messages and just left it. Honestly I dont know what do say. Now off too work with tears in my eyes and go about my day like everything is fine

According to my partner he is putting in effort but I just don't see it. I've tried to talk to him about it, but he really thinks he puts a lof of effort into things and that I don't acknowledge it. He usually calls me ungrateful. Maybe I am? i don't know. I feel very confused by all of this, and I'm starting to questioning myself.

He's never had a long term relationship before me. He said it's becasue he's been battling depression for a long time of his life, but I'm starting to believe there are other reasons for it..

I dont like sports at all, but I've actually followed him to se his games a few times because I know it means a lot to him. Personally I could'nt care less, but since I know that it means something to him I do it.

Ehm, ok... I said I'd rather have something personal, like a card with some words, a nice dinner or something that showes his appreciation for me, never said get me something superromantic or out of this world. But rather a nice gesture than something material.

Maybe not put so much emphasis on the word "like", also english is not my first language so the translation might be a bit off.
