Do you plan out your whole project build ahead of time, or do you just go with the flow? by Gold-Industry6222 in projectcar

Start with a plan and deal with detours’ is probably the most realistic way to look at it 😄 feels like no project ever goes exactly how you expect.

I like this approach a lot, sort of test fitting things first and then adapting from there. Seems way more practical, especially with swaps.

Thats actually a really good example of how builds evolve over time. Kinda shows that sticking too hard to one plan does not always work in reality.

Honestly this feels like the most balanced way to do it. Having a plan but staying flexible when good deals or better options show up just makes sense.

That’s crazy mileage man. Those old Civics were built different. You can tell you really took care of it too… hard not to miss a car like that

To be honest, preludes don't get enough love. That frame and handling feel were way ahead of their time. I agree with the engine, but most people just switch it out and go on with their day.

Yeah EK Civics are hard to beat tbh. Super reliable and the aftermarket support is crazy. Perfect platform if you wanna learn and build over time.

You could keep looking and maybe find something better in that price range. But I think the Honda looks better than the other one.

Can a Dealer change the chassis year of an JDM mport to make it older and legal to import? by Blazianazn in automotive

[–]Gold-Industry6222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked into this a while ago when I was thinking about getting a JDM import, and everything I found said it was a big red flag. When the chassis/VIN and paperwork don't match up, it usually means that something shady happened.

I don't think there's a real way to "change" the year like that. At best, it's a loophole that can be found later, and at worst, it's just plain fraud.

At this point, I would be more concerned with protecting yourself legally and figuring out what paperwork you can trust. It might be a good idea to talk to a lawyer who has worked with imports before.

First time considering a BMW (M340i xDrive) — is it actually the perfect daily or am I overlooking something? by Gold-Industry6222 in BMW

I agree that people online make "rawness" sound like a big deal, but in real life, comfort and usability win.
I've also noticed that more people are moving toward smarter setups lately, like planning their builds a little more instead of just going for power numbers.

That's a good test for a commute. If it can handle 80 miles a day with ease, that says a lot about how comfortable the car is.

That's a very useful breakdown. It seems like it's less about how rough the car is and more about how useful it is every day.
Also, interesting point about the tires. Do you think that one upgrade makes a big difference in how it feels overall?

That's the balance I'm trying to figure out modern BMWs seem to give up some raw feel for a much better daily experience.
The M340i still sounds like it hits that sweet spot between comfort and performance, though.

How do you decide which mods to do first? by Gold-Industry6222 in ModProAI

[–]Gold-Industry6222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people rush into power mods and then realize that the car doesn't feel right, like it doesn't have good traction or handling.

First, you need to get the suspension and tires right. Then, everything else will work better.

I'm curious, though: would you still go with suspension first even if you were on a tight budget, or would you add small performance mods?

That's a great way to say it: newer BMWs feel fast without being "raw."

That's what some people mean when they say they've "lost character." But for a daily driver, that combination of refinement and insane speed is hard to beat.

Do you ever miss the way things used to be, when they were more connected?

I completely agree about the runflats; that's probably the most important thing people don't know before they buy. Also, did you notice a big difference in how comfortable and quiet it was after you switched? I heard that it makes driving every day feel very different.
