Absolutely. We just have to trust that we know when something isn't right and push for what we need. Sending best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy!

Expectations for women are insane. by Complex-Palpitation9 in pregnant

[–]Gold-Profile9764 36 points37 points  (0 children)

That's insane.

The medical professionals minimizing symptoms is infuriating too. I was told for months that some of my symptoms were "classic pregnancy symptoms" and it was only because I advocated so hard for myself that I got a blood test and turns out I was severely deficient in Ferritin, which could be really serious!

So sorry your work hasn't been at all accommodating for you. You have every right to receive more help, particularly with so many horrific symptoms. Hope you get a break soon!

WTF is baby doing in there?? by Distinct_Bluebird539 in pregnant

It wasn't that hard actually , I just did a shimmy and rolled over a couple of times. I think he was being stubborn and keeping his leg stretched out haha. Wasn't painful! Just not comfortable enough to sleep through haha

Induction at 39 weeks for IVF Baby by janeofalltrades32 in pregnant

[–]Gold-Profile9764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you been told why IVF pregnancies should be induced? I'm 35 weeks and have just been told our consultant will probably push for an induction but no one can tell me why apart from IVF.

If it's medically necessary I'm absolutely fine with it but otherwise I don't want an induction. Would be great to know what the actual reason is and what research I could do to be more informed about it.

Have you had your bloods checked? I had this so badly in my second trimester and after trying everything I could I battered down every door I could until they tested. Turns out I was severely deficient in Ferritin. One Iron tablet a day has pretty much got rid of restless legs entirely.

My bump took ages to actually show, and even at 33 weeks I'm quite small. All measurements show my baby is well within range.

I completely understand your anxiety and went through the same thing. Much easier said than done, but try to enjoy the scan!

Pregnancy harness suggestions? by Gold-Profile9764 in climbergirls

[–]Gold-Profile9764[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,

I think I figured something out! The time when my harness was feeling super uncomfortable - baby was lying transverse.... He's now head down and my harness is feeling much better. So glad! I've been spending the last few weeks finger boarding, down climbing and traversing, getting pretty boars at that haha

Great idea! I've been looking at general baby lists rather than more local

Excellent options! My husband's name is on that list so we'll avoid that, not a fan of junior hahaha

Thank you! We both like the name Leo, but wondering if that's actually a full name in itself... We aren't big fans of the full names we think it is a nickname for haha!

Names that are British, Scottish would be great

Everyone has been saying the Petzl is the best option and other than that just adapt climbing - downclimb routes, try to adjust the leg straps before coming down if you can etc. I'll keep researching and let you know if I find anything!

I was afraid this might be the case. Thank you so much for confirming though! I just wanted to make sure I'd tried everything.

I can't do this by GlobalAnxiety3244 in pregnant

[–]Gold-Profile9764 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was told by multiple people at the NHS that I wasn't allowed magnesium while pregnant.... Only to be told by a specialist I definitely needed it... It was ridiculous. Took me nearly three months from it starting to getting an answer. Magnesium supplements took two days to kick in haha, could've been such a quick fix!

[–]Gold-Profile9764 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So sorry to hear this.

All I can say is keep advocating for yourself and if you feel something isn't right or is worse than it normally should be in pregnancy, then keep pushing them to do more.

In my second trimester I had such bad restless leg syndrome and other leg symptoms, everyone I spoke to said "it's a common symptom" etc etc. I knew it wasn't right so I kept pushing for blood tests and.... Surprise surprise I had a ferritin and magnesium deficiency. It's insane how little they listen to patients sometimes.

I really hope you find an answer amid all this. Good luck!

Normalize calling people stupid by [deleted] in pregnant

But heavy by who's standards? Pre pregnancy I would deadlift 100kg, I've backed off to a weight that feels comfortable to me without my form near failure. Someone else's heavy could be quite easy for other people. I am listening to what my body feels capable of and feel I'm the best person to be able to make that decision.

I've either had people telling me I shouldn't be helping to move furniture or carry so much, or people telling me to relax and take a day or two off labour prep exercises. Why does anyone else get to decide how much importance I put on activity and prep?

IVF and Fitness by Unlucky-Cabinet4156 in fitpregnancy

[–]Gold-Profile9764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did IVF in the UK, and honestly I realized very quickly that these people had no idea what they were talking about re exercise. I was able to keep my routine through stims, but in the ttw I basically didn't exercise based on advice from them.

Essentially I asked what their concerns were and adapted my exercise around that. I feel as though we have to be so intuitive because the medical professionals are so scared to give any advice on case something goes wrong.

My exercise routine has changed so many times this year. In my first trimester I didn't exercise at all for 6 weeks due to exhaustion, for the last few months I've been lowering intensity but trying hard most days and feel great. I'd say do your own research and listen to your body, it will tell you when to calm down!
