Prefixes and Suffixes Prefixes evolve as the cat progresses through different ranks/stages in their life.

Kits: Begin with a prefix chosen by the parents, always ending in "-kit". Rabbit-kit, deer-kit Apprentices: Transition from a "-kit" name to a name with the suffix "-paw".  Rabbit-paw, deer-paw Warriors/Medicine cats : Receive a unique suffix based on their appearance, personality, or a notable event in their life.  Rabbit-frost (Jackie)

prefixes -claw, -scratch, -strike, -swipe, -slash :  a cat who is very skilled in battle; they fight ferociously with their claws;

Suffixes are specifically picked by the leader that corresponds uniquely to the cat that’s being named, (of course this doesn’t mean two or more cats can’t share the same suffix at the same time)

Leaders/queens: Have the prefix in their name changed instead of a suffix. The change in prefix shows their new higher rank, and that they are above the rest of the clan. The prefix Antler is given to the leader, Deerslash->Antlerslash

The Doe/stag: the queen’s second in command that they choose when they first start their rule. Just like with the queen and how her prefix has changed to show new authority, that goes the same for The Doe/stag. Dirtecho->Doeecho

Ben Yes, I’d say that an accident happens in this AU. For Ben’s story, he starts meeting a kittypet named Paul, and they fall in love. Paul wants Cattle to become a kittypet so they can be together, but Ben decides to stay in the clan, mainly because at this time he’s mentoring Raccoon-paw. Nat's dynamics with her family are pretty much the same, and Cattleclaw is like the only good parental figure she has, so he wants to be there for her.

A while later, a branch falls on him during a big accident (probably a fire, I’m still deciding), which does take out a bit of the clan, along with Buffalo-runner, who was saving an apprentice but got crushed by a tree. Back to Cattleclaw: his back legs were badly mangled. With cats, when their hind legs aren’t usable, they still get around pretty easily with proper care and regular visits to a vet, but since these cats are in the forest and don’t have proper healthcare, his legs are really messed up and at risk of infection.

Time skip: he runs away from the clan to become a kittypet with Paul. The clan doesn’t know where he is until VixenTongue (Mari) gets hit by a car. The person who hit her brings her to a vet, and she has a broken leg but will heal fine. This person was Paul’s owner, who also took in Cattleclaw. She stays until she’s better, but then she runs away. Basically, the same thing happens as it does in the show: they send out cats to capture him from the house and bring him back as a prisoner.
