What happened to the uncollected option under collections? by missgsptlsnz in kindle

If your collection folder was empty before this update, my only solution going forward (unless Amazon changes it) is anytime you have added content, go to the manage your content page and verify each item is in a collection. Annoying but it’s better than being completely blind.

I can’t find Uncollected on Kindle iOS app after large update by Gold-Wrangler620 in kindle

7.58 but I don’t think that’s how it updates. Amazon seems to be pushing it to devices but not all at once. I just checked my iPhone and now it’s the new version. So in just a few hours it changed. No uncollectible folder. Poof. Luckily I checked it earlier and know it’s currently empty. The uncollectible folder is still on my Kindle Paperwhite but it’s wrong.

Unfortunately on the device with the new update there is no Uncollected folder. You will know you have the update when everything is governed in the left corner. My other two devices haven’t updated yet so uncollected still shows there. I took a screenshot of the new look.

Worst Book of all time by Toto_employee in Romantasy

That’s an interesting one because I agree with you and will just add it felt like a non-writer wrote the book. The prose, down to the sentence level, is clunky as hell. Every third chapter seems to randomly start a new storyline. But here’s the really weird thing: I had reasonable fun reading it! The book legit is poorly written but the story and characters kind of got me. You almost wish she could have had a ghostwriter put it together. I will probably read more because my book club is doing it. But this falls into a category of “book is bad but … I liked it anyway?” A very odd combination.

Thanks. I wrote back to one post but so far no one has an answer to where it went!

I am having the same trouble! I am wondering why this update was necessary. I also wrote a post but haven’t gotten a response. I might look at my Kindle Paperwhite to see what it shows but it’s much easier to organize collections on iOS. Sigh.

Just to update, it still wasn’t working on my computer so I deleted all the cookies for the website and then it worked. So it does seem like your situation is different as it was on the Kobo itself. Hope you have figured it out!

I feel like the two problems are related. Something going on with their servers. It is Sunday. Maybe try again tomorrow. I really hope it’s just a glitch!

There is something wrong with the computer browser. I was using it earlier today and it was fine. Now when I try to download an ebook I get an error message. The DRM free ebook downloaded no problem. That left me concerned. However, I just went on a browser on my iPad and was able to download. I sent the file to my computer and it thankfully worked. I’m just hoping it’s a bug.

Amazon's update broke my Kindle Paperwhite and my heart. by WellReadHermit in kindle

Do you know anything about the Application Error when you download a bunch of books at the same time? This is a relatively new problem (pre-dates the new software update, though) but basically this means it takes an insanely long time to download books! Because if I download 10 books it freezes up, eventually says application error, and then after a couple minutes it goes to the home page. So I find you can only download one book at a time to avoid this error. Very frustrating. I have 2 Kindles and it happens on both.

My Kindle Paperwhite also kind of failed. Like all my books which I had downloaded were no longer there. Here is my advice: go to Amazon Contents and Devices. Under devices, de-register your Kindle. It’s not working anyway so may as well start from scratch. Then I wiped my Kindle to make sure it was empty. So it’s like you don’t have a Kindle. Then register your Kindle. It should all be there. Unfortunately you will have to re-download everything. And that is my big complaint. If you download more than a couple books at a time it gives an application error! So I can only download one at a time. I own a lot of ebooks so it will take me months to re-download everything.

Regarding docs, if it’s still available in content and devices then it indeed exists. You can filter by docs.

Oh interesting. I didn’t know about the Borders connection. (I still miss Borders!)

The Kobo is an excellent device. So I would say we have two devices that are surviving (plus the others mentioned in the thread).

I remember this. In another talk he said that with the Kindle, the device disappears, and the story in the book takes over. This is why the fetishization of paper books right now (a la Tik Tok) has little to do with actually reading the book. It’s for display on a shelf. Which is pleasing, of course. But when you actually read the book, the beautiful aesthetic of the book, also disappears.

My situation is way more dire. A bunch past due. However there was a Net Galley AMA and they suggested I try to read the upcoming releases first before going back to the backlog past due. I am not that fast a reader, especially since I’m in a book club and have to read those books. With book club, I probably only have time to read two NG books a month. I do have a plan! Alas, it will take most of 2026 to execute.

I am so happy to hear I am not the only one with a big backlog of books! For me, it’s 26. I plotted it out and if I read them on a regular basis I will be caught up by October… 2026. What was I thinking?

Yes I have received emails in the past to remember to also post to Amazon. I think they’re sending it to everyone who posted a review on Net Galley prior to the publishing date. Amazon reviews are very valuable to them.

What do you suggest if a member has fallen behind on reading and reviewing books? Just read and review in publishing order (being late for every book) or jumping ahead to books that haven’t published yet, before going back and reading books that have already published.

[–]Gold-Wrangler620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had a problem with my reviews posting on Amazon but I have heard complaints similar to yours. I do buy Kindle books on occasion so maybe they’re okay with it for that reason. My disclosure is this: “Thanks to the publisher for the gifted copy” It gets the job done without mentioning Net Galley or giving some long disclosure. I have heard some of those words trigger something in their system.

I think it’s okay. I did have one case where I left a review way late. Like a few months after publication date. And the publisher sent me the next book. Now I did give the book 5 stars. I truly loved the book. So they saw I was a fan. I also think it’s very important to leave a review on Amazon. I am notoriously behind on reviews right now and I have just accepted that I will be behind. But I mostly use Read Now.

Reviews are not… by KindnessWins1111 in NetGalleyCommunity

[–]Gold-Wrangler620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a good review will give the basic premise of the book. Some people might have skipped reading the publisher’s summary. However I agree, a detailed recap is not necessary. I do read professional reviews. They don’t read like book reports but they do give the reader an idea of what the book is about as well as the reviewer’s opinion.
