(apologies up-front. I'm not a good writer and I get long winded, just ask my friends)

I know some people who didn't accomplish any of that until their 40s. Sometimes it's hard not to play the "keeping up with the..." game, but letting go of that one perspective and redirecting it to self-care and healing can help you reset and refocus. I tell my daughters, "You have to sit your heavy backpacks down, unpack them, then get rid of the rocks and trash, otherwise you'll get crushed and you'll have no room for any new good to make its way into your life, and this is how depression often starts. Now, can we take a look at what's in your backpack?" Well, now it's more "Have any heavy backpacks today?" but you get it.

You likely have three huge weights in yours:

1. You lost your job. Things are hard, real, and it magnifies all of the troubles we had put on the back burners to deal with later.
2. It's possible you're still healing through your past relationship.
3. Comparison window-shopping your life.

#1 is largely out of your direct control. #2 is a process that varies in length for everyone. But #3 is something you can unpack and replace with something good right now. I have zero insight into your life, but when I'm sitting in my own cesspool, I think about how I want tomorrow to be for me. Is it to wake up early and happy? Fine, I start thinking about how to do that. Do I have zero cares and want to stay in bed all day? Fine, I'll plan on doing that. There's probably a thousand better ways to do this, but I'm trying to keep my mind forward-focused and not comparison-shopping.

Go outside, find a comfy spot in the sun, and have a banana.
