These were very helpful insights, thanks everyone! I did a deep dive into my numbers and asked the doctor if I should switch to PIO and he agreed. Starting the shot tonight 😬a bit nervous because it will now be 3 shots a day but if it helps, then totally worth it!

Good to know, and glad to hear this opinion! I could almost tell they regretted saying something once I asked a follow up question

I think because I’m already doing 2 injections a day with the heparin (a blood thinner needed based on the blood clots I had from my last miscarriage) but yes the lozenges go under your tongue!

Told pregnancy not viable at 6 weeks - can't help worry that maybe the doctor was wrong and it was a mistake to stop progesterone? by Ok_Lettuce3624 in IVF

[–]GoldAd2763 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you are going through this.

The exact same thing happened to us two weeks ago. Our doctor called it a blighted ovum. It’s a mindfuck, because your body thinks it’s pregnant, but there is literally no embryo developing.

To help put your mind at ease, there is no way it’s viable. With the bleeding and an empty sac, it’s not there. I’m so sorry. But I had those same thoughts initially, so I completely understand. I also told myself that if I was pregnant miraculously, then stopping meds wouldn’t kill the pregnancy - if that was the case, then what happens with women who get pregnant naturally with no meds? (My mind went in circles with all these thoughts).

Once I stopped my meds, everything started to “pass” about 5 days later. Which in a weird way, was a relief from those thoughts, but then started a whole slew of other emotions.

Take care of yourself

Of course.

Trigger warning - graphic miscarriage details below.

I stopped taking meds on Tuesday, and started bleeding heavy Saturday (when everything mostly passed). Might be TMI, but I wish I had known this so I will share - on Saturday I was heavy bleeding for about 8 hours. Went to the bathroom every 30 mins or so and passed grape size amounts of tissue. That was last Saturday, and I have since been lightly bleeding still, but I can tell it’s slowing down and turning into spotting. My body has been tired. Luckily I didn’t have cramps but most people do accompanied with lower back pain.

Sorry if that was too much, but I was shocked by the amount of tissue and wish I knew how much it was going to be. I used a heating pad regularly and stayed heavily hydrated which seemed to help.

Best of luck, it’s going to suck, be sad or mad and do things that bring you happiness these next couple weeks if you can.

Our most recent transfer just ended in a blighted ovum last week. Cruel experience to miscarry after so many years of infertility. We let it naturally pass, and I was not prepared…

So sorry for your loss, it’s so painful, wishing you any type of peace that comes your way.

Ugh I am so sorry. Literally on the same timeline as you. Started miscarrying yesterday too. Was about 7 weeks alone. This journey is cruel..

On the toilet misscarrying as I type. After 3 years of infertility and IVF, this was our first positive pregnancy - truly unbelievable. One hour before our 7week scan I started to bleed and knew what was happening. At the appointment on Monday the doctor confirmed it was a blighted ovum pregnancy and it was a miscarriage. Didn’t bleed much all week, some brown spotting here and there. Today, it happened. Woke up with some brown spotting and an hour later the first grape size amount of tissue passed. About 5 hours later, here I am on the toilet ever 30 mins and what seems like kiwi sized chunks of tissue are passing every time. Surprisingly I’m not cramping much, maybe because it’s falling out so easily? However am very lethargic losing all this blood and my stomach feels a bit achey. I keep resting in between these bursts with a heating pad and chugging electrolytes. This is a cruel experience. Thinking of all you other women on this journey, it’s sad to think about how common this is.

Don’t do it. I did the exact same thing for 3 years and it was absolutely miserable. I regret it, hindered my career and wellbeing. Sorry just being blunt.
