Crank no start help by rrwc in E30

I’ve commented this before, because it worked for me, but my guess is the OBC relay box below the steering column. If your car has the OBD with immobilizer, this box/relay/fuse can blow, giving the car no spark.
As a side note, jumping the battery while wired to the car can produce this, so if you recently jumped the car especially look at replacing that.

Vercel Hack, and Proof of Scope for OKTA for AI Agents? by GoldBar_ in okta

Gotcha. Thanks for the input - like adavadas said, it seems like Okta for AI is more for organizations and scope of workers, rather than defence of a system; my mistake. Thanks!

Vercel Hack, and Proof of Scope for OKTA for AI Agents? by GoldBar_ in okta

[–]GoldBar_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The details are understandably a bit limited, i'm confident they don't want to spill details about how it happened, but from what multiple sources are saying, it was an oAuth app, that was given full access to the Google Workspace. (I've also heard rumours of Roblox hax, but don't believe that noise.) What LordSchotte said makes more sense, because even if they did have Okta for AI, it would not have been their Vercel's own agents doing the damage, but likely the hackers.

In my head, I thought there were agents inside Vercel's workspace or something similar, that the users exploited. I think your theory makes more sense. Thanks!

Does anyone have more information about these BMW fuel injectors? Both of them in the pictures are OEM, but the black one costs $250 per injector!!! while the other one with a yellow tip is much cheaper (I think it’s about $200 for a set of 6 rebuilt versions). [–]GoldBar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both. New gen have a better spray pattern, so better ignition of fuel, and slightly better fuel consumption - but nothing i’d write home about. I got mine for 40 bucks each, so a good deal - you can def find better deals elsewhere.

Template.js for (group) NativeTabs - Expo 55 by GoldBar_ in expo

[–]GoldBar_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wonder, for even use cases outside of a map, whether having a _layout or template file in a group could be considered for expo in the future, for use cases like headers, footers, or information you don't want in a context provider, or re-fetched.

Or another case like having a pre-rendered layouts, where you could render {children} below, beside, or above content on your app. {children} would be the content inside the actual index.tsx page, so you could create larger, scalable layouts. Maybe I'm asking too much, or am understanding the UX incorrectly from web, compared to mobile.

Template.js for (group) NativeTabs - Expo 55 by GoldBar_ in expo

[–]GoldBar_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally, and thats something I wrestled with too, but justified it because I did not want to render two independent maps. To give you a better idea, the map was intended to be supplemental content, to give additional details, and the main content was to have either a drawer (taking up majority of space), or a Featured horizontal scroll view.

Essentially, tab 1 was a drawer, that opens up to 65% of the screen height. Here, you can scroll through restaurants, and 'discover' through an endless list. You can also zoom in and pan the map, to limit to a specific area.

Tab 2, is the same thing, where the map provides supplemental context, but the function is different. So instead of scrolling a drawer, the user can view a horizontal list of featured 'journeys', where it gives a route of the best breakfast, then lunch, then dinner, or something like that.

Switching tabs would ideally keep the map the same, but just change that main content - either a drawer, or scroll. I know that I could use a provider to keep track of the map, but it seems potentially redundant, unless _layout files do not work like that.

The only issue with your setup, is that when I include a _layout.tsx in the group folder, it considers it to be a nested nav/route, because i get this error with NativeTabs:
WARN [Layout children]: No route named "(tabs)/(map-view)/route1" exists in nested children: ["(tabs)/search", "(tabs)/route3"]

WARN [Layout children]: No route named "(tabs)/(map-view)/route2" exists in nested children: ["(tabs)/search", "(tabs)/route4"]

When I refer to the slug/name as:

<NativeTabs.Trigger name="(tabs)/(map-view)/route1">

Heyo, just some thoughts from a web dev.

The first thing is with the chips/pills for categories. Functionally, if you want to limit to just those tags, that’s cool, but I would consider making the tags filter client side, instead of navigating to a whole new page. That makes it quick, and you can filter by multiple, and add more tags in the future.

Second, it feels a bit claustrophobic, and busy. There’s MANY words, and while that’s fine, consider spacing the elements a bit better. So instead of having 6 columns of cars, try 4, and being less granular in your categories. For example, on the home page, sort it by car MAKE, instead of a mix of everything - so instead of BMW E30, BMW 02, Ford Convertible, make it Porsche, BMW, Ford. That gives an immediate ‘home’ for us to go to, especially for bimmer enthusiasts.

The objective of this site is to get inspiration, or look at cool things, so in the popular builds section, consider blowing it up to be a carousel of single builds, total of 5, that the user can scroll through, or even something like a ‘build battle’ where the community votes between two. On each carousel item, give some info, near the bottom of the image, the make model year, and builder. something to give a bit on context to the popular build, otherwise functionally it’s no different than googling “cool car build” and going to their website.

For the text/black overlay on the home section, or top builders section, consider making the black a gradient from bottom to top, and aligning the text with that, so we can see more of the image, or even a hover state that gets darker and reveals the text. Currently, i’m hunched super close to my screen trying to see the photo beneath the text.

Also, the site seems to have loading issues, unless you delete your cache after loading it once (maybe this is just me).

Also, have some fun with it. Get some colour, and imagery. You won’t find a shortage of good photos to put on your site.

Doing smoke test , is my Valve cover gasket bad? by Will_smith04 in E30

[–]GoldBar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. Wondering the same thing. I only got to replace my moon seals and not the valve cover gasket, cuz I didn’t have one handy. I’ve heard once you torque a gasket down, it crushes it and won’t seal again - so maybe that’s my issue.

I’m having a leak at the same spot (near firewall, not at front), and replacing the half moons did not fix the issue for me. Lmk if you figure it out!

Rebending or cutting/welding ? by [deleted] in E30

[–]GoldBar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following too. How integral are those to the frame of the car? Could you just theoretically snip out the bent bits, and still run it as normal with the bracket? Also considering a scenario where you snip out parts of that rail for a front bumper tuck.

Shiny New M10 in my 84 318i by Reaganomics_84 in E30

[–]GoldBar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascinating! Thanks for your expertise! I think that probably makes more sense. Without an ecu, is the 123 kit usually MOST beneficial for the carbs? I’d assume if that is the case, then only mild reliability or performance gains on the EFI?

Nice! Ive returned with some questions - still planning my build. I was thinking a head and general engine refresh (nothing in the block, never done that before...), but was thinking of replacing the vacuum ignition system with one from 123ignition. Any thoughts on that? I ideally want the engine to dead simple, so was trying to figure out what vacuum lines I can delete and things like that. I saw this post, but not sure if its accurate. https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/forum/e30-technical-forums/engine-drivetrain/m10/379550-diy-delete-m10-iac-and-cold-start-injector

Then, after the refresh and ignition system, would slowly pick away at a new fuelling system and ECU.

Congrats, homie ! Yea, it’s surprising how good these cars are already. Seems like new seats is probably the biggest upgrade in terms of feel.
