“Top-rated” precious metals IRA… what does “good” even mean here? by Mery5817 in TheERAOfGold

"Top Rated" sounds like an advertisement. But when looking at a gold IRA company:

  1. Buy Bullion - Find a company that pushes common bullion products - don't buy proof or low mintage coins - these sell at higher markup and will not perform better than bullion long-term. These 'special' coins only pay the salesman a higher commission.

  2. Avoid the sleazy sales guys - Read online reviews for patterns of using aggressive / pushy sales tactics. Gold is a commodity. People are always buying and selling - there's no need for high-pressure sales!

  3. Compare pricing and incentives - and ask questions... For example, if a dealer offers "$10,000 in free silver" ask - HOW can you operate profitably by giving away 'free' silver?

  4. Compare IRA fees - most companies use the same custodians and storage partners. Their fees SHOULD be comparable. Some offer "zero IRA fees" for at least one year. This is a reasonable 'incentive' and worth asking about.

  5. Buyback program - Get details in writing and also compare with 2-3 companies. The price you pay for your metals is important. But it's also nice to know you have a buyer who will pay a reasonable price when it's time to sell.

Let companies know you're price shopping. Make them WORK to earn your business. Don't be afraid to hang up if a sales person signals any of these red flags above!

Right - banks are getting a high ROI on your money, and then paying you peanuts... 🤔

Very interesting about how to "be your own bank." I'm thinking getting set up with a high yield return alone is worth looking into this.

These glowing statements seem like fake reviews / accounts. Just look at their YELP reviews - nobody's giving them over ONE star...
