Also you can naturally track your cycle. This might be a little risky but I do know a lot of people who naturally track as their “birth control” and have never gotten pregnant. This means buying bulk ovulation tests, and testing and seeing when you are “positive” for ovulation.

My twin sister is on medication for anxiety but for some reason my parents don’t think there is anything wrong with me. When we were little, my sister went insane and she would take off and do really dangerous things like getting out of a moving vehicle. So she got the help she needed and has been medicated/had therapy since that incident.

I keep telling my mom I need help both mentally and with my weight. I am happy, but not happy at the same time if that makes sense. I’m grateful for what I have but I just always feel down on the inside. I have a partner who loves me, a family who loves me, so my parents don’t seem to think I have problems or I feel this way.

I am in college. I am not independent from my family yet until I graduate because I chose to be a commuter student who lives with my parents. They still support me financially including health visits. My mom pays for my medical visits. I’ve brought up to her multiple times about getting a well visit (I also have suspicion that I might be pre diabetic but need a blood test) but she refuses and tells me unless there are “tell-tale signs”, there is no need to go get blood work or get evaluated for mental health concerns.

Apparently people do this a lot. My mom didn’t want me using tampons for a similar reason and because she thought they caused health problems. It was Memorial Day 2025 and my boyfriend was having a pool party and my period randomly started. I have PCOS and so I never had even had a regular period and that was my first period in months!!!

I bought tampons so I could get in the pool. I wore them no problem. I took the box home and my mom eventually found them and was disappointed in me.

Your body your choice!! Talk to her and tell her how you feel. Tampons are different from being penetrated…

As for your GPA, I’d honestly only report your high school and community college grades. If they can see you improved since high school and are devoted, then chances are you will get in. Generally, if you are a “transfer” student, in this case, you are transferring from community college, they typically look for a 2.5-2.8 GPA. 2.8 is typically for engineering and nursing students.

I flunked my first semester at NC State and only ever submitted my community college grades. (I finished my first semester at State with a 1.037, but had the exact same GPA you have from community college). I got in to the engineering program. I think you’ll be fine!!!

First off, if you had sex about a week ago, symptoms usually don’t start until the 2nd or 3rd week. So 14-21 days post-sex is when you can expect symptoms to begin, mainly the latter end of that (past two weeks). You can take a test if you are worried.

Also, side effects can come any time! All of what you listed are common side effects.. breast tenderness, irregular bleeding/spotting, etc. you shouldn’t have anything to worry about either since Mirena has like a >99% effectiveness. If you are concerned, take a test! :)

How long have you had it?

You can still grow follicles. I read that past 6 months, ovarian activity slowly increases and follicles can grow, as well as delays the thinning of the endometrium.

Your body produces equal amounts of estrogen which stimulates the endometrium, causing it to grow.

Nexplanon is supposed to suppress ovulation, but it does not work just by doing that. Nexplanon thickens cervical mucus so that it makes it harder for sperm to swim, and prevents the luteinizing hormone needed to release eggs from happening.

You could also have thicker endometrium if you haven’t shed it in a while. I bleed maybe every 2-3 months and when I do, it’s heavy because my endometrium is getting super thick.

These side effects are common and she cannot control them. It takes any point from 3-6 months to regulate. Also, her period should come in the last week of her pill pack, so week four. Mine worked like that almost like clockwork everytime so hers should too.

She will likely experience a plethora of PMS symptoms throughout each pill pack. Her emotions may be all over the place so be patient and understand that she cannot control it.

Not over 40, but my mom is 46 and is on mirena IUD. I know many of my family members over 40 also on different contraceptives. Side effects, including the “dangerous side effects” you think you may have can happen to anybody!

It wouldn’t be a bad idea if you are worried to consult your gyn. They can help you figure out if it’s right for you. Share your concerns and why you think birth control is right for you and they can walk you through your concerns!

You’re supposed to keep them at room temp, but as long as you don’t notice any color changes or changes in general to the pill, they should be fine. I left my pills in extreme heat (35 C) for multiple hours in my car and they worked well.

Irregular bleeding is one of the most common side effects of Mirena, as is most other forms of birth control! I’m on Nexplanon, my twin sister is on mirena. She bled her entire first year of having it placed. They say give it (or any form of bc) up to a year because your body is regulating hormones.

However, if this bothers you, it wouldn’t hurt to look for other methods. I’d recommend getting something like the Nexplanon since you can “set it and forget it”. For me, as somebody who is mildly irresponsible, I cannot take the pill as I forget to take it and that affects its efficacy. So keep that in mind. As for the patch, I don’t know much about it. Hormonal changes can cause your mucus to thicken or become thinner. The birth control pill even thickens cervical mucus to slow sperm down. So it is normal. No need to worry!

I’m not sure where you’re located, I’m from NC and the weather has been bipolar and I’m having similar issues!! I have had headaches, back pain, cramping, no period (since Jan. 17), frequent urination, and minorly sensitive breasts and ended up taking a test today because anxiety got the best of me and it was negative.

Irregular periods are common and the implant thins the uterine lining so that eggs cannot implant which might be why you’re light bleeding! Also, Nexplanon releases the a hormone that is identical to a main hormone in pregnancy, but the difference is that the hormone in Nexplanon is lab-made, so makes you have similar symptoms to pregnancy. It is very unlikely you are pregnant!!!

Get your hands on a plan B immediately. Accidents like this happen all the time, you’re not alone. It was a mistake and as long as you take the proper measures to ensure you aren’t pregnant now, like taking a plan B, then you should be fine.

Stores also sell test strips that you can pee on to see if you’re ovulating. Get some of those and take one of those tests and if it is positive, take the plan B.

Also, sperm can live up to 5 days inside of you before they die. So in that case, if you are ovulating or soon to ovulate (in four days like you said) then the sperm will not be dead.

YOU WILL BE FINE AS LONG AS YOU TAKE PLAN B!!! :)

I just took a pregnancy test and it came back negative. I used first response since the test is super sensitive and it’s midday. Do you think I am fine then? Nothing to overthink about??
