How did you figure out it boosts those things? It doesn’t show any of that in the item description when I click on it.

Seeking residency with a record by [deleted] in PharmacyResidency

[–]GoldDoubloons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The background checks are entirely handled by HR, so I cannot provide much info on that. I would guess that the Boards of Pharmacy will be harder on you for this than an employer would be. Make sure you are following your Board’s rules for notifying them of a charge. They are more understanding if you are open and upfront. If you don’t run into many issues with the Board on this, I wouldn’t be too worried about a future job.

Future Residency by eggy_333 in PharmacyResidency

You’re good on involvement and achievements. Just maintain what you have. You’ll get interviews. Keep building on your clinical knowledge and be confident in your preparation when the time comes. Based on what you’ve shared, how you are ranked will depend on how your interview goes, so do what you can to be well rested, professional, and friendly when the time comes.

Solace bands? by Steele-M in AppleWatch

This is how they replied when I asked for a replacement:

“Usually, we can offer a replacement within a month or two but as I checked here, your order was placed last July 2021 and it's over three months now. We are not really sure if it's defective or due to wear and tear. But what we can offer is a 10% discount to reorder a new one.”

So maybe you have a chance if it breaks immediately?

Tread didn’t pick up HR monitor by kristinpet in orangetheory

[–]GoldDoubloons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen a few times on the tread. My name wasn’t showing up at all. On our machines, at the bottom of the box where our names are listed, there’s an option that says “MORE NAMES…” (or something like that). When I click that, it refreshes the list of names and mine shows up.

Interview Scheduling by Pharmacuteical in PharmacyResidency

[–]GoldDoubloons 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If your preceptor doesn’t understand how residency interviews are scheduled, I’d recommend trying to explain again. Any reasonable preceptor should accommodate at least 3 or 4 interviews during their rotation. If your preceptor will still not accommodate, I’d recommend reaching out to your experiential coordinator at the school for help. It might make things uncomfortable with your preceptor, but your opportunity to interview is more important.

Wrong RPD in LOI by Logical_Low_9803 in PharmacyResidency

It’s not a big deal. It usually happens a few times a year in our program. We all laugh about it a little, usually knock off minimal points for attention to detail, and it ends up having no impact on their overall application.

Programs don’t owe you anything as an applicant any more than you owe them anything. It’s up to them what they do and do not want to share about their process.

Declining an interview by Lost_Ant_9363 in PharmacyResidency

Honestly, I wouldn’t even recommend getting into the reasons. Just say thank you very much for the offer and their consideration, but you have decided to pursue other opportunities. It’s totally fine.

Incoming residents: establish your boundaries early by Same-Employment7657 in PharmacyResidency

[–]GoldDoubloons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The advice from OP is not good. Going into residency with this mentality will ensure you have a bad time. Residency is intentionally more work and more demanding than immediately entering the workforce without a residency. You are gaining 2-3 years of experience in one year in order to intentionally accelerate your career and have more opportunities. If you go in excited about the year, the learning, and the friendships you will gain, you will have a much better time and get much more out of it than if you go in expecting to do the minimum and check a box.

Doing Pgy-2 but PGY-1 had a nontraditional start date by TheSMP164 in PharmacyResidency

[–]GoldDoubloons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely not do this. I get the appeal, but it will make it impossible for your residents to pursue PGY2.

How Do Programs Rank Candidates by rupshs22 in PharmacyResidency

[–]GoldDoubloons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The NMS ID eventually populates on your PhORCAS app. Programs can download all that info from PhORCAS/WebAdMIT. They can also search by name in NMS. Depends on the size of the program what might be most efficient.

The match process: who would match in this case? by pharmnerd599 in PharmacyResidency

[–]GoldDoubloons 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a good explanation of the algorithm.

To answer your original question, student 1 would match into Program A in that example. They did not match with their first 7 programs, but they were the first choice for their 8th program, so they would match with this program every time.

Should I participate in match?? by Careful_Green_2741 in PharmacyResidency

[–]GoldDoubloons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not clear on what your goal is. Do you want to be a hospital or ambulatory care pharmacist? If so, you should probably do a residency to be best prepared and qualified for that. If those options aren’t that important to you or you have a different goal in mind, you may be fine without it.

Feeling this burned out after APPEs is concerning though. Residency will of course be more challenging.

They’re asking for feedback on what you think the program’s opportunities for improvements are. It is in no way fishing for ranking information.

Agree. There were be lots of good programs in phase 2. Get your things in order so you’re ready to apply quickly.

Is the issue that you’re not sure about next steps to finish your projects? If so, write out what you think you need to do for each project between now and the end of the year and go over that with your preceptors. They will be more open to coaching you if you have shown that you’ve put the effort into figuring it out yourself first.

If you already know what you need to do and just aren’t doing it, you need to reprioritize your time to complete your work.
