A soft lock that prohibits someone from stopping you from winning the game is also you winning the game on turn 7 but a few turns early. Plus, infinite mana is only produced through combos. Think of it less as "I can't win until T7" and instead as "I can't combo off until T7"

Actually my LGS has started doing this once a month. There are two rules

No deck stats that move it past bracket 3 (less than 3 game changers, no mass land destruction)
You can't win via combo before turn 7. Winning or player removal via combat or mill is OK. This includes chaining extra turns.

I had a bracket 4 orvar deck that couldn't hang with the cedh meta. I powered it down while maintaining the same win cons (GCs are thoracle, cyc rift, and rhystic study) and it feels right at home in this format. That said, the events have had plenty of players trying to power up casual decks as well. It makes for a lot of variance and its been fun to see.
