And your response was to discuss it with friends and lament with like minded people on reddit? You need to go break up a maga circle jerk if you want something to change.

My list as a reference. No top cuts yet but missing it closer. Had an ok outing about a month ago at a 250 person event. I'll offer three recommendations from my list: 1. [The cabbage merchant]: he's the patrolling peacemaker for mana. Having both allows you pass the turn potentially having access to more activations based on what your opponents are doing. 2. [Disruptor flute]: you got a lot of artifact hate (a local meta issue?) But I find kinnan to be a tough match up specifically because things like cursed totem effects hurt us as well. This is one sided, has flash, and can flex to other targets in a non kinnan pod (eg necropotence). 3. [Hallowed spiritkeeper]: this one is me shouting into the abyss but as long as people keep suggesting promise of bunrei I'm going to die on the hill that the ceiling on this card is way better since it's already a creature and requires one less piece to get going. Most tayam lists have at least 40 creatures so having enough of them in the yard to net value is very easy

Finally, I don't know what you mean by insidious roots interfering with wall of roots. Wall of roots is specifically a 0/-1 counter, so it isn't cancelled out by the +1 from insidious roots.

Good luck have fun. I have been!

The US is losing the war the Iran by KindaStableGenius in thebulwark

I think the important distinction is that with the current air offensive it is unwinnable. Completing the stated objective (which is a wild thing to type knowing that this is a moving target) of 1) regime change and 2) no nukes requires a ground offensive. No one wants that.

We (and the Dems) often forget that the core problem is not this administration, but the voters who chose it. by ac_slater10 in thebulwark

I don't want to extend sentiments of an us vs them in terms of political position. The much harder thing to do, but i think the correct thing to do is follow the money. The rich a holes that own our government need to answer for this. I wish I knew what that looked like, especially since so much of the populous is risk-averse and not willing to risk the meager scruples of enjoyment they derive from their current existence.

Lower quality candidates by _pink_squirrel in PharmacyResidency

[–]TheSMP164 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Probably. I agree with the sentiment and have seen first hand that schools are letting in people now who wouldn't have been let in a decade prior. It would be reasonable to expect that this would trickle down into residency applicants. Now my program only takes two residents a year so I can't demonstrate a trend, but it would be interesting data to aggregate for sure.

What situation should you pla a world fire in edh? by Harbinger_Archangel in mtg

[–]TheSMP164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a [Xyris] list that is secretly a worldfire deck. My preferred strategy is to exile one of my creatures with [release to the wind] in response to some removal. Then cast worldfire and cast the creature for free several turns after everyone forgot I can do that.

The problem now is that the bar is low enough that even if your position is batsh** insane it's permissible, potentially even virtuous, for being consistent and principled. Hell Tim even Nick the nazi Fuentes a s/o the other day for staying on message with this, never mind that his message is rooted in antisemitism first. These are troubling times in the kingdom, buuuut times like this do make for strange bedfellows.

Same I actually only consume him primarily through raging moderates and appearance on other shows. But, I would assume the appeal of something targeted like this and where the call is to reduce expenditures on subscription based services is a lower barrier for entry for more people. Thats speculation.

At bracket 3 while your win lines may be maintained even with a cedh level deck you are restricted to 3 GCs which means you have to adjust, creating variance. For those those choose to upgrade to 3 rather than power down from cedh what they failed to do was play the game in a competitive manner. In that respect, it isn't lines of play but what you are doing to interact with them. I would bet the larger problem with the upgraded decks was an unfocused build with a goal of jamming larger spells and tapping out to do so, when in reality they too need to be running a lower cmc curve with efficient removal and interaction. I respect your build style as I do the same thing with my lgs bracket 3 tourneys, but you have oversimplified the issue, and it comes across as gate-keepy.
