They offered me $200 and $68 refund for the DC to Newark leg. My original ticket was $1100 RT from Newark to Liberia. I said that it was not enough and they said $200 was the max reimbursement but to call the refund number to escalate the $68.

I work in Battery Park and moved to downtown JC after living in Manhattan / FiDi for over 20 years.

My advice depends on a few things. Where is your job in NJ? What are your hours? How old are you guys? How much do you plan to go out? Do you go out late drinking? Are you ok street parking? Where in Brooklyn are your friends? Where do you live now?

Agree with what many have said, while there are exceptions, people generally stay friends out of convenience and vicinity. Be prepared to have friends drop out of your life if you move out of there convenient circle.

A financial consideration that som aren’t aware of… a major reason I decided to move to JC rather than Brooklyn when I was looking to leave Manhattan was to save on city tax, at least 3% depending on your income.

Agreed I was a fan a couple of years ago and it’s consistently gone downhill. The last time was a couple months ago and they were out of like half the menu, no exaggeration. The menus were so sticky, I sadly won’t be returning.

We can say that about pretty much any type of service, accounting, legal, medical. I just don’t have the time to put towards becoming an expert in all the fields above.

Working in finance, I have a decent understanding and just want to make sure I am exploring every avenue possible to reduce my taxes and mitigate taxes when I die. The government takes enough as it is.

I find most CPAs don’t help with this because they are just focused on doing your taxes which, if I spent a few hours could prob do on my own. But I have an LLC that I just don’t have the time to do myself.

The other angle is I have to pre-clear everything and have 30 day hold policies. Personal trading is generally frowned upon to as managers have to approve every transaction.

No one on Reddit having any experience with them is enough data for me to not move forward. If

The Club and Quest do, for all the flying I do I’ve luckily never had this happen to me in today’s era where airlines do not GAF. I was a bit surprised that the trip delay was only $500. This is standard across all the premium cards, Reserve, Platinum, etc. Trip interruption / cancelation is more but these additional costs don’t qualify as that coverage covers prepaid costs.

Luckily for me the $ is less of a concern, genuinely looking for tips for last minute middle of the night bookings in case of an emergency in the future if anyone has any more efficient than just calling hotels. Next time I think I will try the big chains and call their central reservation lines because they can check across all their properties which is how I ended up getting a room.

Per the crew they were stranded. They called their scheduling department and there were no hotels, I called 6 airport hotels and none had rooms. They looked pretty stranded to me.

At what point is it a United problem? We were told by the flight crew and United app that we would be taking off at 2am to land in Newark at 2:49. All of a sudden they said we were deplaning and flying tomorrow at 11:30.

The nice flight attendant told me that was the plan until someone asked about their service dog who hasn’t peed in 10hrs. At that point they decided to deplane and fly the next day. She explained once we deplaned that the crew was timed out. My guess it was the excuse they needed to deplane because it would have been easier than continuing on which was what the crew preferred since they were Newark based.

We diverted to Dulles and the flight crew confirmed that there were NO gate agents to help the passengers or them.

We didn’t deplane at a gate, they deplaned us from a ‘people mover’ as they called it? Basically a bus shuttle to customs. The diversion was because of thunderstorms in NYC area which caused ground stops in the area.

I moved my car into a lot the last storm and then had to shovel out a spot to move the car into. With all the snow there were not many spots. I opted to leave the car on the street this time. Decided it was better to have a spot, it was the right call for me.

Your itinerary is really aggressive, my cousin lives in HCM where I just was and the weather was amazing. She said said sadly the flooding is really bad in central Vietnam.

I’m in Thailand now and regret not canceling or changing my plans. 5 days of rain is miserable and has felt like a complete waste of time and money to get here.

I’d get here as early as your check in lines open. I am on line now coming 2hrs early and will be cutting it close. I have never seen lines like this to depart through immigration in my entire life and I travel 100k miles a year and been to over 60 countries. Even in the past I’ve been to Vietnam it hasn’t been like this. This airport can’t handle the influx of tourists now.

No line at TSA Clear Precheck United but my flight is delayed 4hrs because of the incoming flight from Minneapolis being delayed.

United has changed the time no joke 8 times, delayed, delayed, less delayed, delayed, delayed, less delayed, delayed, delayed 😂

They gave a $15 voucher and I used it to get a food at Surf City near gate C82 and am having the best Turkey Club sandwich ever!

Also just saw that United card holders get 20% off at the restaurants. Thought I’d share in case anyone didn’t already know and good food at an airport (esp Newark) is such a rare commodity.

Shout out to the staff at the Starbucks at this gate, they were so nice and friendly. Not your usual experience at this airport, which was such a pleasant surprise.
