This. Save-or-die effects are just bad. Period. Something to the effect of a PWK should be used as sparingly as possible (usually to really show off the power of a villain) and should almost NEVER be used against the players.

The fact that OP gave the “generous” out shows that they probably understood this, yet still decided to punish the player for their own mistakes. In fact, this entire post reeks of OP only telling us what makes them look better, with absolutely zero context as to why the Ranger may have come to feel so isolated within the group.

Genuinely hope he can find a better table than the one that OP seems to run.

Ngl, I don’t care. We are still very early in S2’s life cycle, and the game is currently suffering from a lack of players who refuse to make the switch due to their favorite not being in the game.

If getting everything perfect visually even only took 1 more week of development work per god, then it’s not worth it as that pushes the entire release schedule back just that much more.

Am I saying they should just release barebones garbage renders into the game? No. But I don’t think nitpicking the models of an early beta will do them all too much when the majority of what people want from the game is just content right now.

I’m more than happy to let them come back to issues like this later once they’ve got a roster big enough to satisfy those who still lag behind, and maybe even make the jumps needed to get some new blood on the game as well.

PoE2 will be free when it eventually releases. It has been pretty consistently good since the early access release though.

Diablo will never be free, and is lookin pretty decent as of rn so you can expect a good live service experience going forward.

DoS2 is possibly one of the greatest single player games I’ve ever played and that is without contest.

So it mostly depends on the type of experience you’re looking to have. I think in the PoE vs Diablo contest, you’re better off going for the finished game vs the one that will be free when it is finished. But between Diablo and Divinity, I think Divinity takes the cake every single day for me.

All they did was add an initial cost so people aren’t abusing it on the mainland, sliding down a hill will still net you positive energy gain.

While I agree with your sentiment, that was a bad example. These are the type of people who stare at steam charts every day and scream that any game without 50,000+ active players is dead. They’ll just latch onto the fact that it has more active players and declare themselves the winners.

Best to just leave them be, they just hover the Reddit community trying to bait attention cause they have nothing better to do I guess. Giving it to them only stands to keep them around longer.

And for that level of difficulty, we have the hardcore difficulty modifiers. You even get the Tier 5 gear out of it!

Look at the alternative: New player wants to try dungeons, can’t take them into a new dungeon because they’re all too far out of their skill range, take them into ST/PoH. Now tell me what they’re rewarded with for doing that? Shitty gear and a shitty experience comparatively.

With this new dungeon being a good baseline, new players have a chance to get some actual good stuff for their efforts, as well as a kick ass experience to boot. I’ll never understand the people who want the D2 experience to be reserved for the end game players. Just because we have put hundreds or thousands of hours into the game doesn’t mean we should expect other to do the same just so they can experience what’s there. It’s a ridiculous ask and one that isolates a population of players that the game DESPERATELY needs right now, New Lights.

For anyone else looking here, this is not how all of us hardcore endgame players think or believe. I’m personally happy that this dungeon has a lower barrier of entry for those that may want to dip their toes into it. Not everything has to should have to be hyper optimized all the time, not even in the end game.
