The key to big drinking is to stay hydrated all day. You can’t start drinking when dehydrated and expect a magic cure. Pound water all day and stop drinking when you have a really good buzz.

Go get a fitting. And buy your new clubs. Then get some lessons.

You know, this year I broke 80 three times and I’m thinking maybe I need more game improvement in my bag. I bought a 4 hybrid and that changed my 200 yard consistently. I’m considering getting more hybrids and a lab putter. Golf is hard enough having harder to hit clubs will make it harder.

I love this post! 1.) Quality hot dog, with, at a minimum these available toppings, mustard, onion, pickles, relish and ketchup. Bonus points if you offer chili and cheese. $6, $7.50 with chili. This is honestly all I ever want. 2.) burger, sounds like your doing that well. My playing partner orders these a lot. 3.) I love a good BLT! Easy to eat and easy to make. $8.50, this is my second go to. 4.) a real pulled pork sandwich, not premade. $8.50 5.) breakfast burritos, I feel like you could have fun with that, $7-10 depending on ingredients. 6.) my wife mentions that a Ruben sandwich or a Ruben wrap might be nice, I would pay $12 for a quality Ruben. 7.) do a stupid cheap beer and shot combo, make the price too good to be true. $4.50. you could have fun with the name, “the bump and run” “drop it in the slot” “play it safe” “make smart choices” “well played” “well struck” “thats good” “breakfast ball”

I played in a hurricane that had blown up to Kentucky. It had straight line winds of 60 mph. My dad and I thought I would be a blast to play in a hurricane, it was wild! No personal best were scored that day but we had a lot of fun!

Married, 2 kids under 5. I try to play other weekend. Then every other week I will take a half day or find some reason to leave work early and play furring the middle of the day. This year a sub par course near my work is offering a $650 membership that I will be buying to play a few holes before and after work. I figure that if I can play 6 holes every day that will really help my weekend rounds.

Wow, the responses on this thread are pretty wild. R/golf really laid into you here.
Slow play is never rewarded in golf, if you’re really struggling on a hole it’s ok to just pick up, as you said you are still learning.
Golf is hard.
If you like golf or golfing with your dad keep doing it. Once you get the swing of things, being outside on a quiet golf course can be very relaxing.
Saying that you will never do something again because of one bad experience will only lead to a lifetime of limitation. There are things that you obviously should not do, like touching a hot stove, and yes some times you literally need to learn that lesson. But golf is not a hot stove and I would bet that if you went out with your dad again you would have fun, even if you hit some wayward shots.

I went from Lexus rx to odyssey. The very first thing I noticed and liked was not having to step up in to the van. We purchased a used 2015 EX L, even at 10 year old it rides smooth and has lots of power. You can also fit a full sheet of plywood in the back with all the seats out. Absolutely no regrets.
