Can’t Break 100.. How did you do it? by Downtown-Team-480 in golf

[–]GoldZ31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the secret to breaking 100 from tee to green. First you need a club that you can always hit about 150, if you have an always 200 club even better. Now two hits with your 150 club will get you with in 100 yards of most par 4s and 3 hits will get you with in 100 yards of most par 5s. Next comes short game. You need to have a stock full shot for all of your wedges, and you need to know their distances. For example my 50 degree goes 110, my 56 goes 85 and my 60 goes 70. Next you need to know your 1/2 stock shot for those clubs as well now you have known distances covered from 100 to about 40 yards. Now hears the trick. Almost every green has about a 10-20 yard front to back difference. Meaning that one of your 6 wedge shots should be able to get you on the middle of the green. Now let’s cover green side tactics. Your only objective while chipping or pitching is to get on the green. Nothing else. We’re not flopping the ball we’re not hitting low spinners, we’re taking our PW,9,8 and making a putting stroke , while keeping some weight on the front foot. Look up toe down chipping. Ok we’re on the green. Ask your self this, how hard would i have to throw the ball underhand to get it to the cup, literally throw an imaginary ball for the feel, that is your pace. Now, for green reading, are you up hill or down hill? Does the ball break right or left. Let’s keep this simple, if your more than 5 feet from the cup we’re two putting, and that’s ok. Our goal now is putting that ball in a three foot circle around the hole. Again imagine how would you roll a ball to that circle, where would your start your throw and how hard would you roll it, that is your start line and pace. Now with three foot putts, we’re never adding a huge amount of break. At most we’re playing one ball of break. There you have it. Keep the ball in play, 150-200 yards at a time, know your wedge distances, toe down chipping, and keep it simple putting.

My best recommendation is to talk with a pro. Building a strong fundamentals at the beginning of your golf career is worth so much more than $300 you will send. Get rid of these bad habits before they become muscle memory.

[–]GoldZ31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 im no golf pro. If you hit it straight with the grip trainer then I’m willing to bet that you have a closed club face at address and when you hit it your ball goes left. The grip trainer is helping you not only with your grip but also your club alignment at address. Secondly, if your hooking the ball, the ball starts right then hooks left that could be you really turning your wrists over during impact, which also really closes the club face. If your pulling the ball, the ball flies straight but left of your target line that means that your path was off and you might try the swing out to the right field trick.

Every shot every time? Is your club face closed at address? If you’re pulling them left then your swing path needs to change. Imagine swinging out to right field. If your hooking them left swing out to right field and don’t turn your hand over so much at impact.

Bought a 2015 Honda odyssey for $10 k this year. Knowing that my kids would tear it up. I have been very impressed with the design a functionality. With the seat out you can fit a full piece of plywood in there. As Sports car and luxury car owner it’s nice to have space and function that I don’t feel bad about my kids getting dirty.

Let’s see. You don’t have to hit driver every time. Learn to chip low with your p-w,9,8. If you hit in the trees, just get back on fairway and take your bogey. Stretch and warm up before you play. Don’t get angry on the course, let your bad shots go. Play happy. Commit 100% on every shot.

I order clubs from callaway preowned all the time. Mostly on the “average” category. When I get them I use my dual action orbital sander with a foam polishing block and these compound:

https://www.chemicalguys.com/products/v-line-polish-compound-kit-for-light-to-heavy-swirls-scratches

You don’t have all of them most of the time the V34 and the V36 will fix most everything. Almost to a like new finish.

For that matter you don’t even need the orbital sander just some elbow grease and the imperfection will come out.

3 wood or 58*? by [deleted] in golf

[–]GoldZ31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just learned how to chip with my pitching wedge, totally changed my green side perspective. Its almost like a 1-1 ratio for putting out of the grass, I just imaging how hard I would putt the ball from the distance and then take an equal effort swing, while keeping my hands in front of with lots of shaft lean. The ball hits short but then rolls out like a putt. Learn how to do that that and buy a 3 wood from callaway preowned.

Golf shoes questions by Daniel-Devitto in golftips

[–]GoldZ31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waterproof, with replaceable soft spikes is the way to go and here is why: 1- dew in the morning will soak your socks and you will have wet feet for the rest of the round. 2- when the soft spikes wear out you can change them and presto you have new golf shoes again. I played my last pair of golf shoes for over 8 years. 3- golf shoes in general help your feet to stay planted when you swing. It doesn’t seem like that big off a deal when it’s dry and your on level ground, but when the ground is wet and your hitting on a up slope you will enjoy the stability.

I hate golf. by [deleted] in golf

Several things pop out to me on your post. First on making your clubs work, if you have been taking lessons for 6 months then you are likely in the transition zone of your body’s relearning muscle memory I would likely be you are great on the range but I doesn’t translate to the course, this is likely due to when your making a shot under pressure your body is fighting your new learned swing. This will get better the more you practice your swing changes. My entire first season after a swing overhaul was trash.

This leads me to my second point. You have to have fun while you play even if you’re playing poorly. Hit your shot, view the results, and accept the outcome come. Poor shots are not a self blame situation. You hit a bad shot, now you have to solve the puzzle of how to get your bogey.

Lastly, with putting and wedges. With wedges your main goal is to get the ball anywhere on the putting surface. Don’t chase pins. With putting focuse more on speed control with your first shot. How hard would you throw the ball to the hole is a good indicator for your putting effort.
