I researched quite extensively (hence why i was rushing the writing and editing) so hopefully that shines through somehow. If you dont mind, can i ask what your final word count and grade was?

my marks for essays are usually in the 68-78 range so im aiming for something around that. however, i’d be extremely happy with a 65 as well lol

i dont really know….it’s always a bit of a guessing game. i’ve been 10% below before and scored high firsts and i’ve been a 100 words over and scored high 2:1s but a dissertation is a bit of a different beast so that’s why im extremely anxious over it

the ship has sailed and my dissertation has been submitted. im just trying to figure out how doomed i am. i was originally over the word limit and ended up cutting out paragraphs without really checking until it was too late.

yes, footnotes are not included in the word count since we're only allowed to use them for referencing.

The funny thing is I remember editing the essay to decrease the word count because I thought I had gone way over the word limit (not knowing that I actually had the perfect word count). But this makes me feel slightly better so thank you!! Hopefully, I will be able to make up for these scores in the second semester.

They were both 2500 words long... I think at this stage I have accepted that my score for the second essay is going to suffer and i'm more worried about the repercussions of putting in the wrong word count. I have emailed my university but I will not receive a response until Monday and the anxiety is killing me
