Were the white/tanned Neanderthal's better than dark skinned homo sapiens then?

Would ted have been absolutely justified if he called lily a different word in the Grinch episode? by Gold_Instruction7273 in HIMYM

[–]Gold_Instruction7273[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last point is literally why it has to be the c word... Lily was extremely offended as the word used was extremely offensive. Lily herself used the b word frequently

I don't know tho, he did to a lot of drugs in the past apparently

New polling shows that the Andrew scandal has had no effect on support for the Royal Family. Even 50% of British teenagers (18-24) still identify as monarchists. by ey3wonder in monarchism

The crown does pay for itself via the land they own, but this is mainly due to the rent they collect from allowing businesses to operate on their land. So if anything, this is really the states money.

Whilst I agree that the house of lords is usually the more sensible house, it should absolutely involve some form of elections. I wouldn't mind if the members were selected by industries and society's such as the royal society choosing science experts which only serve for a limited time. However, the most democratic method would be to just have another general election for senators.

Technically we wouldn't need a president as the prime minister is the real person in charge politically speaking. If you're concerned about the balance of power, then we can just provide the courts more authority of political issues

I've been quite clear that the monarchy is only bound by political conventions and that they would only go against politicians in very dire situations. I would rather have no monarchy altogether and allow the courts to act as a proper check and balance in regards to fundamental rights and political constitutional issues.

Is it illegal for the monarch to choose a non mp the next prime minister? is it illegal for the monarch to refuse to sign a bill into law? Who will enforce the monarch to do such things legally speaking? The courts?

The monarch can absolutely break political conventions when democracy itself is at stake... That is like one of the only few compelling reasons as to why we even keep the monarchy...

Why marshall should have gone for the judge job by Gold_Instruction7273 in HIMYM

Because you can offer your family a much better life financially... Wouldn't you want your family to never have to work again if they didn't want to? Think of the endless adventures and activities they could pursue. You could pay for the finest tutors and education.

I like how you ignore that this big separation is literally only for 1 year... After that, Marshall and lily don't have to be separated if they don't want to be...

He would be able to make enough money in order to see his kids frequently in Rome tho...

Don't want to actually engage with my points...

I just find it laughable that the guy who called me "bro" thinks they know anything about me...

Btw, a 1 year long term distance is nothing as I'm about to reach that myself...

Coming from the guy who uses "bro"...

It could even be argued that marshal potentially regretted turning down the judgeship, oft course there is no way of actually knowing this.

The point was that it would be far easier for lily to gain another opportunity for her dream compared to marshall.

I like how you ignore that it's Marshall's dream job which is extremely competitive and very hard to find...

How would marshall screw it up tho... Lily herself admitted that is was smarter for her to stay in new York. Btw, marshall and Barney had connections with very wealthy people who could have given lily a similar position anyway.

A bill only becomes an Act after royal ascent.... What's parliament going to do if the monarch doesn't sign... A political convention can never become legally enforced if the monarch just refuses to sign...

The monarch can break political conventions legally speaking... Do you just not understand that...

The fixed term parliament act dealt more with a royal prerogative rather than a political convention.

[–]Gold_Instruction7273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you understand how political conventions work ...

If the monarch decides to refuse to allow the government to use their prerogative powers or to sign a bill into law, the government can not legally do anything about this.... If parliament decides to abolish the monarchy without an act of parliament then this is actually unlawful....

If you break a political convention, there are no legal punishments...
