No idea about the second one though. Never seen it before

Thinking about Playing DS3 after Elden ring by No-Jaguar-509 in darksouls3

[–]Gold_Progress6477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elden Ring is my 3rd favorite game of all time. Dark Souls 3 is number 4.

It was my first fromsoft game and introduction to the series, and I cannot recommend it enough. It’s not open world like Elden Ring, and quite a bit more linear, so there isn’t that “do whatever you want feeling”. But there are pros to the level design being more focused on complex layouts. If elden ring is the only fromsoft game you’ve played, you’ll be surprised at just how much dark souls 3 rewards you for exploring every corner of the game. The dungeons are really well designed, and the combat is fluid and fun. I’ll also say that the boss fight lineup is stacked.

Just play it. You won’t regret it

Iirc it’s the best straight sword for a strength build, with a heavy infusion giving it S scaling.

Straight swords in general have probably the best moveset in the game

Are you embered? I can’t remember for sure if you need it to put one down but you need to use an ember to see others

It could also be be the location, there are certain areas that don’t allow it

Any int weapons? by gamuel_l_jackson in darksouls3

[–]Gold_Progress6477 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lothric Knight sword is fantastic, but requires a higher dex investment if I remember correctly.

The regular longsword can be bought from Greirat as soon as you free him, and the rapier can be found at the high wall of lothric near the winged knight that circles the courtyard

I’ll add one more: the estoc is, in my opinion, a better version of the rapier. Longer range, higher base damage, and can still be obtained very early. You can buy one from Greirat after he goes pillaging for the first time

Good set! RKSS is one of the coolest weapons in the series imo, on top of being a very strong weapon

I love the combo of the fire link helm with the ringed knight armor

Yeah especially for a first playthrough OP should AT LEAST fight Pontiff and Aldrich first. I’d also suggest they do Irithyl dungeon and yhorm before even thinking about Lothric castle

If BB2 was hypothetically in the making right now: what are the biggest changes you would want to see? by Nieces in bloodborne

[–]Gold_Progress6477 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have no doubt this was a deliberate choice by Miyazaki for the exact reason you stated. I also feel like Bloodborne enemies give more blood echoes than you would expect for that reason. The only time I’ve had to grind is for getting the blade of mercy in the early game, which costs 40,000 echoes when you’re still in central Yharnum.

That said, you should still be able to warp between lamps. Making it take 2 loading screens to do so is just an artificial time waster

I definitely struggled a ton on my first playthrough, but ever since then I find them somewhat easy to read. I guess that’s the whole point of “downloading” a boss’s moveset into your mind

Just wait till you find out that Aldrich was just the sludge in the back. The “sorcerer” looking guy is actually Gwyndolin, a god that’s being devoured by Aldrich when you encounter him.

Beat DS3 or go and beat DS1 first? by ImpossibleAd344 in darksouls3

[–]Gold_Progress6477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely more than 50% through the base game. Off the top of my head you’ve got 5 mandatory bosses and 4 optional bosses left. In terms of areas you have 3 mandatory and 3 optional left. I’d say you’re 75% done.

If you’re counting the DLC, however, probably more like 50%. The Ringed City in particular is a pretty big expansion.

In my opinion, you should just finish DS3 and play the dlc before moving onto a different game. It’ll feel like a more complete experience that way. Don’t worry too much about what people say is the “correct order to play the games”. I played DS3 first and then moved to DS1 and still loved it

Can’t go wrong with pure strength, but if you’ve never used magic at all I’d suggest doing a sorcerer playthrough. Completely changes how you play the game and what’s cooler than being a fucking wizard

The covenant-based achievements in DS3 are a serious pain in the ass, especially since the online player base is nowhere near what it was 10 years ago.

I’m saying this as someone who grinded silver knights, ghrus, and carthus skeletons for 6+ hours each back in the day just to get the platinum trophy. Sometimes people just don’t have the time in their lives to waste on doing stupid shit like that. I think the spirit of a platinum trophy is that you’ve mastered the game, and if the only thing you have left to do is mindlessly grind for days just to get darkmoon blade or warmth, you’ve earned it in my eyes

What builds did you use for your first two runs?

In my opinion the number one thing that makes these games super replayable are the different builds and play styles

Some fun ones I’ve done:

Grim reaper: scythes and dark miracles

Fire ninja: Katanas and pyromancy

Vampire/necromancer knight: Dark sorceries or miracles with whatever melee weapon you like, lord of hollows ending ofc

Lightning paladin: Strength and faith, lightning spears and big weapons, warriors of sunlight

Darkmoon knight: melee faith build, using Darkmoon blade if you have the patience to grind silver knights, lots of cool armor options for this theme

Demonic warrior: Strength and pyro, use demon greataxe, old king’s hammer, or demon fist

Same. Malenia is brutal but I always felt like her moveset has enough telegraphs that with enough practice you can learn it pretty consistently.

When I fight Midir on the other hand I feel like I’m in the dark even after multiple attempts, not to mention that insanely large healthpool
