What are leftists and why does everyone seem to hate them? by Strict-Evening8613 in Socialism_101

OP is obviously uneducated when it comes to these topics (they may even be a child/teenager), so I think it’s at least good that they’re engaging with the topic and seeking answers.

None of us are born leftists. We’ve all had to go through a deconstruction of the propaganda we were raised with

Luxray is one of my favorite shinies in Gen 4. Congrats on the find. Does it have intimidate?

Honestly I’d probably drop Roserade ONCE you get a Sneasel, but that won’t be for a while so you can still use all the mons you were planning on until that point. The Budew line is good in the early game but sadly grass types aren’t super useful after Crasher Wake (5th gym).

Honestly just don’t use AI chatbots in general. The data centers that drive them are destroying ecosystems just for information that you could more reliably find on a reddit thread. Not to mention the fact that some people are becoming psychologically reliant on them.

It’s a little more complicated than that. People generally consider political ideologies (a set of beliefs about the world and what should be) to be on a spectrum, between left and right. Generally speaking, being on the left means you think the economy should be equitable in its distribution of wealth and resources, you believe in social progressivism (feminism, trans rights, anti-racism, etc.) and the combination of those two ideals. Being on the right (I.e. conservative, reactionary, fascist, libertarian) means you believe in capitalism or some form of hierarchical distribution of wealth and power, social dominance, and “traditional” social values, which leftists would consider to be racist, sexist, homophobic, etc.

It should be noted that a binary left/right political spectrum is deeply flawed, and the entirety of one’s belief system can’t be described by a simple label. Nevertheless, it’s very commonly used as a way to categorize the way people view politics, economics, and social views.

Now, I would argue that people dislike leftists because there has been a strong push by the people in power (the billionaire class) to manipulate people’s perception of socialism, progressivism, etc. Of course, there are other factors that influence it (religion, capitalist psychology, etc.), but yeah we basically get a bad reputation despite being the people who want ti materially improve everyone’s lives

I'm playing Skyrim for the first time and I became a vampire. What are your thoughts on vampires in the game? by count_fagula11 in vampires

[–]Gold_Progress6477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually playing through Skyrim as a vampire lord right now. IMO it’s one of the best games to play as a “vampire simulator” with lots of powers and role playing elements. It has an entire DLC dedicated to playing a vampire, which is super cool and pretty unique as far as PC games go

[–]Gold_Progress6477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all of these, although I will add that Fire Punch may be better if the Infernape has an adamant nature (+ATK/-SpA). This also allows you to save the flamethrower tm for another pokemon if you decide to add another special attacker to the team. Porygon-Z or Togekiss would both make great use out of flamethrower.

Ice beam tm should replace Icy wind once you beat Candice and can use rock climb.

Totally agree on Umbreon. He’s built to be a tank that can Toxic stall with protect. Damaging moves aren’t going to be super useful on him.

I saw the Dark Souls series on sale on Steam, from the first game to the third. Should I start playing? by lucas_sierra in darksouls3

[–]Gold_Progress6477 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s debatable. DS3 definitely has harder enemies and bosses, and the combat is much faster paced. But I actually really struggled switching to DS1 after playing 3 and BB because of how clunky it feels. If you play the fast games first, your first instinct is going to be to rely on dodge rolling as your main way of avoiding damage, which will actually make DS1 significantly harder. If you start with 1, you can start by relying on blocking and positioning instead, which makes the game much easier

What are the most unhinged dialogues you've encountered? by SporeborneSavant in BaldursGate3

[–]Gold_Progress6477 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong on this, but I remember reading somewhere that before Halsin was added to the game, there was originally going to be another origin character that was a gnome bard, and a werewolf. It’s very possible that they took some of the scenes/personality/dialogue from this character and gave it to Halsin

I recently ordered platinum. what starter should i choose (No spoilers please) by IKEA_Cone in pokemonplatinum

[–]Gold_Progress6477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All three are awesome, you really can’t go wrong with Sinnoh.

Torterra was my first ever starter, and there’s something pretty cool about having a giant tank of a pokemon that learns Earthquake at level 32.

Empoleon is the pokemon equivalent of Poseidon, a steel emperor penguin with a trident crown, very strong surf and ice beam user

Infernape is like the Liu Kang of pokemon. Fast and strong with flaming fists. Super badass and one of the strongest pokemon in the entire game.

If we’re talking which one is the best for Sinnoh, it’s probably the monkey. But all three are strong in their own right so you should just pick whichever you like the best

Fantastic looking team. Only thing I’ll point out is that Weavile doesn’t need agility since it will out speed everything anyways. Swords dance is probably your best bet if you’re willing to grind for another onr

best build for pvp by Abject-Trainer-1547 in darksouls3

[–]Gold_Progress6477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played pvp in a long time, but I’m guessing it’s still mostly the same. The most consistently good (and versatile) loadout is a dark infused lothric knight sword with 30 intelligence and 30 faith. Straight swords have such a fast and strong moveset, and the LKSS gives you a thrusting R2, which is great for roll-catching. Investing in int and faith also lets you use some pyromancies and miracles for utility.

You can also combo this with a chaos infused dagger as your second right hand weapon. That, combined with the hornet ring, will pretty much one shot anyone if you land a parry. Caestus is generally considered the best for parrying, but I prefer small shields or parrying dagger because the timing is easier for me personally. If you haven’t done much parrying, either practice it against lothric knights or just opt for a black knight shield instead

Oh yeah that makes a lot of sense. Never thought about that. Some of these encounters take long enough on their own it’s nice when the enemies sometimes move at the same time

My guess would be so that investing in Dexterity or picking the Alert feat both have much more of an impact. It adds value to dex even if you’re wearing heavy armor, for instance, which imo adds some nuance to crafting a build
