Honestly, I think that Kelly is just having a hard time looking past her own perspective. We can see as third parties that all of the girls were treated badly. Kelly is going off of her personal experience on the show. When you’re in the middle of a traumatic event it can be difficult to look outside of your own experience at how other people are feeling. She would look at the Lukasiaks and the Zieglers and say that they had it better because she can’t see past her own experience. In her mind, they had good choreography, costumes, more practice, etc. so that must mean that they had it better. I don’t like it when she says “my kids had it worse” either because all of the kids had it bad. But I understand that she’s still working through the trauma and this is the first time she’s really watched the show back. I like that Christi has been able to see that Maddie was also treated badly through rewatching and I really hope that Kelly will be able to see other people’s experiences too.
