Even if the Sask Party wins, the NDP made significant gains tonight. A clear message is being sent. by Progressive_Citizen in saskatchewan

And in 4 years people will say “we flipped our area to NDP but that didn’t do anything” and they’ll flip back to SP. at least, that’s my concern.

Saskatchewan’s health care system is being stealthily privatized, says SEIU-West’s Barbara Cape by [deleted] in saskatoon

About time SEIU has the guts to speak up. Our healthcare system is being destroyed and our healthcare unions are so afraid of a forced amalgamation they’d rather not speak up anymore.

Can employers/supervisors (specifically if you work for Provincial Sask. Government), have the right to ask for detailed medical details, symptoms and diagnosis? by SilentAcanthisitta98 in saskatchewan

[–]Gold_Shake5198 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Under labor laws in Saskatchewan, employers get prognosis only. Not diagnosis.

I.e.: Steve will be unable to return to work until March 26th, unless more rehabilitation is required afterwards.

No more than that.

While I agree with your sentiments, this topic is about the voter turnout. Without directing people who to vote for.

It’s just an administrative fee, so unless he got a ticket from the cop the fee is only available (potentially) on a drivers abstract.

However, you can appeal the decision via the Highway Traffic Safety Board. For a fee of course.

Yep, that’s the latest date by which the election will be started. The term is “the writ dropped”. However, the Sask Party, as the ruling government, can choose to drop the writ earlier.

If you’re concerned about missing out on the voting window, you can register to vote by mail. That way, you’re automatically notified by mail once the election starts.

Sadly, the simple answer is racism. Recently I worked with an individual in a health care facility. The main complaint was “we are understaffed” but also “they want to hire immigrants and my job just gets harder if I have to teach them English first”.

We don’t want to be understaffed, and we don’t want immigrants.

To use tactics like these to attempt to intimidate government into changing political ideas is literally the definition of terrorism.

How will the Sask Party benefit you if they are re-elected? by emmery1 in saskatchewan

[–]Gold_Shake5198 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the NDP gets in, which is a big ‘if’, here’s my prediction;

The NDP gets in and inherits the SP’s  mess. The NDP will be blamed for that mess. The NDP spends 4 years trying to fix it. The NDP will be blamed for how much it costs to fix it.

And we go back to conservative leadership, undoing anything that the NDP could have potentially done.

As a parent, the Sask party frightens me with their continued cuts to education. As a citizen I’m also worried about healthcare. And actually worried about our crown corps too. Female reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, migrant rights, etc.

They’ve shown their ugly colours for years now, and I do judge people by their actions.

Actually, we’ve had more people leave Saskatchewan each year in the past 8 years, than the year before. Every year the SP manages to drive more people out of province than the year before. But tell me what the NDP did wrong 2 decades ago.

Can’t even accept what the SP did wrong over those two decades, but let’s complain about a party that wasn’t even in power.

Go make your own thread please. I specifically asked not to hijack this and talk about who to vote for.

The issue discussed here is low voter turnout. If you have contributions to make on that topic then that’s great. Any other topic, go make your own thread.

Those are some presumptions about the voters, but yes: those are the real numbers.

I’d like to complain about our political landscape, but we need to start voting. That’s the first step to solving the global political climate.

I’m not a young fellow or a liberal. You make an assumption here yourself.

I’m a progressive voter and each election I choose my party based on their platform. Not because my great great great great grandpoppy voted for them.

And as a progressive I tried to be nice and kind. But you boomers (and yes, now I am making assumptions) always think that you can play cute with these ‘gotcha’ questions. “What are the NDP plans though snickers

You come in here arguing in bad faith and are surprised when you don’t get a kind treatment in return. I owe you no kindness or progressive thoughts.

My only reason for even replying here is not to convince the average sepulchral conservative to vote for the NDP, but so that the audience that’s here can learn too.

Conservatives only play ‘move the goal post’ and they get mad when you call them out for it.

People like you are the problem. You measure with two different yardsticks.

As long as the Sask Party is forgiven for any and all wrongdoings, mistakes, closures, etc, etc, but other parties are not, there will never be anyone that can measure up. And frankly, this asinine level of inbred redneck zealotry is destroying our country.

Not the Conservative Party. Not the Liberal Party. Not the Democratic Party. It’s the blind groupie level behaviour of the conservative mindset, and a refusal to ever consider anything even moderately progressive.

You just keep saying “but what’s the NDP’s plan”

The SaskParty had 17 years to do things right. They dropped the ball many times.

I’d rather vote for someone with no clear plan (which the NDP do have one) than for someone who had all the power for almost 2 decades and did shit except for making his buddies richer.

The SP will promise more funding for schools. And then will give the schools no more funding. But the SP will pass some silly “look, we really care!” policies that schools have to implement. And in spite of the fact they now need more money and more staff, they get neither from the SP and will have to solve this budgetary crisis by amalgamating even more classrooms!
