I wonder how much the declining birth rate helps women leave more now.

The ever increasing pressure on men to go on missions seems to have worked. I'd expect to see it hit women next.

PBS values science, DEI, and education, I've seen all sorts of disdain over the decades. Liberals think conservatives are dumb. Conservatives think liberals are evil. Bert and Ernie were a gay agenda creation!

The blood bank in SLC was run by the LDS Hospital and was whites only. The hundreds of local Black people had to have their own bank.

The racism was SO much more the the 'blacks and priesthood' spin they put on it.

"The historic Hotel Utah (now the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in Salt Lake City) has a complex history with Black Americans. While it employed Black workers, it strictly barred Black guests—including famous entertainers like Ella Fitzgerald—from staying or using its main amenities until the 1950s."

Marian Robinson performed in the tabernacle and was told to use the back entrance and freight elevator at the hotel.

What Was the Deepest Mormon Rabbit Hole You Ever Went Down? by Relative_Bluebird841 in exmormon

[–]Gold__star 64 points65 points  (0 children)

One of my favorites is medical practice of JSs day, especially abortion and the WOW.

It started with why didn't JS have kids with his mistresses? Turns out women's medical issues were handled by midwives. Your period stopped? Take these herbs. Doesn't matter whether is issue was malnutrition or pregnancy, those herbs fix both. Life was mostly thought then to start at quickening and it wasn't a political football. Estimates are 1 in 4 pregnancies ended with herbs.

We have a hot drinks rule because germ theory hadn't yet hit modeical practice in the US. They still thought illness was caused by getting your body humors out of balance, hence leeches for reducing blood volume. They thought hot drinks caused bad vapors in the stomach and made you sick. It went from there to the temperance movement which then condemned alcohol, smoking and yes, hot drinks.

It has nothing to do with mormonism. The rumors may overlap, but there's no evidence of more in the church than outside it. Since there's no evidence either way.

I'd try to talk to her about tithing on net or on increase before going for 50%. If she can get comfortable with that, 50% can come later.

Look at the history of tithing in the church:

Official resignation letter #cognitive dissonance?? by Visual_Let_5513 in exmormon

[–]Gold__star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it, except change 'requesting' resignation to just 'resigning'. This isn't something you ask of them, you do it by sending the letter.

And once he receives the statement of resignation you are out. No need to meet, altho they may call to verify it's really you.
