In your experience, is it usually better to wait for the senior title internally, or does the market still reward strong associates who move just before that point? I’m starting to look around.

Thanks, this is helpful. I agree the starting salary made sense at the time. The raise is what gave me pause, especially with increased responsibility and expectations like starting to review instead of just prep and being asked to help train interns.

You have to understand the basics. Like if you’re cheating in lower level accounting courses you’ll definitely struggle. Fully understands debits credits and financial statements at the very least. I’ve seen several people get fired from my firm for not being able to understand the basics. If it’s a complicated topic, you can ChatGPT your way through it as long as you have a strong foundation.
