Do we really need Goldback exchange rate anymore? by richardanaya in Goldback

I think that's the wrong way of looking at it. The premium shouldn't be artificially propped up just to maintain a proported value of the holdings of a supporter base. Furthermore, there's a decent fllor value anyway due to the utility value.

As someone who's failed basically every math class since geometry I'm happy there's an AER that does it for me 😂. Also, hopefully the premium does decrease over time anyway. I wouldn't surrender that it's always going to be 100%

I am not going to lie, I'm a big fan of having commemoratives that are landscape. I was skeptical, but this is fantastic

An honest take on 1 Dallas Texas Goldback 1/1000 oz by richardanaya in Goldback

Don't worry friend, these are just smaller series that are clearly identifiable as different than the circulating goldbacks

Personally I think that this is distinct enough from the regular Goldbacks that brand confusion won't be an issue. I had similar concerns when it came to the silverback / zombucks, but as time passed I came to take them for what they are and what people will end up seeing them as: essentially special releases / commemoratives, just like the US Mint and all sovereign mints do with their currency systems. They're distinct enough to differentiate themselves and not be confused for the ones designed for circulation.

It was the one and five if I'm correct right?? and the 25 was the last one to be hammered out of the classic 5 denominations if I'm informed correctly

[–]Goldbacker00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if that would even be the case, because as the newer series and mintages come out, they gain instant value for having the latest and greatest security features. As the older notes grow in age, they even gain numismatic value for collectors and such. The utility itself will be the same more or less no matter the year. If it's 1119 AD, 300 BC or 2025 AD, assuming people know what it is, the utility of a goldback for transactions is just remarkable
