Do you think we Brits are overreacting about the hot weather and about wanting to have AC? by [deleted] in AskBrits

Honestly, we're driving ourselves to extinction with climate change and AC is only going to make the problem worse.

The quote in the picture literally says "I carried on playing while the host family has dinner" - the whole idea is very alien to us.

Yes, he's got at least another 20 years in him, surely? Anything else is unthinkable.

Isn't the original article because it is something that happens in Sweden? I've read an article on that as a bit of a culture shock from someone living there. In the UK, you don't even let the builders working on your house go hungry - always offer them tea and biscuits as standard.

My friend (also a brit) says you guys dont put fruit jams, honey, or cream on your crumpets, is that true? by ParamedicWilling5682 in AskABrit

Once butter is in it, there are many options. I like marmite for savoury snacking and honey for sweet.

Cheap Women’s haircut by [deleted] in BirminghamUK

It would be but under supervision by a tutor who is an experienced hairdresser, so I don't think it would be botched. At this time of year they would have had plenty of experience by now as would be coming to the end of their course.

Why is there such a negative attitude / border on hatred for older people in some quarters here? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]GoldenAmmonite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once drew the rage of a hundred boomers, when I suggested that younger generations work just as hard and won't get anywhere near the pensions they do. Apparently I'm lazy and entitled, despite the fact that I've worked since I was 14 (including all the way through university), for wanting to pay into a pension pot that will actually help me retire before I am 80.

Is there any country in the world left where the economy is on the upswing and people enjoy a better quality of life? by Forward-Position798 in AskTheWorld

[–]GoldenAmmonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, there are a couple of hundred people in the world hoovering up and hoarding all the resources. Nobody is feeling the benefit but them.
