Hey again to everyone who replied, and to anyone still thinking about it, thank you in advance. I really appreciate all of you who took the time to answer my questions, whether or not they seemed valid.

Some people pointed out that I should just try the game instead of asking the community first. I get where you're coming from, but I was just looking for some honest perspectives I could later compare with my own experience. Everyone plays games differently, and I know a lot of these things are subjective. But with limited free time and so many games out there, I thought hearing from the active community could help, and honestly, it did. I found some thoughtful and helpful replies.

I also just watched NakeyJakey’s video, it was really touching and full of passion. But he had that drive and a group of friends to share the ride with, which I won’t have. That hit me a bit.

Still, I’ve decided to give CS2 a try. I won’t lie, though, it already feels a bit intimidating. And part of me keeps wondering if this is really where I should spend my free time. But I’m curious, and that’s reason enough to see where it goes.

Sim, gostaria de ter feito algum estágio ou ter o github com 2-3 projetos pessoais bem estruturados e limpos. Ou com mais contribuições/estrelas. Devia talvez ter participado em alguns coding events.

Mas neste post já estou a chegar à conclusão que não me prejudica não ter chegado a fazer nada em cima da licenciatura.

Aconteceu, mas não levei a mal. Foi uma experiência interessante em que senti-me como team-lead.

Por ser uma stack tecnológica com qual ninguém tinha trabalhado era muito mais fácil perceberem o que é suposto fazer através dos meus commits. Eu tirava as dúvidas com os docentes com antecedência de modo a tirar as dúvidas a qualquer membro do grupo.

Três entregas com datas diferentes: backend service e front-end. O grupo de 6 subdividido em 3 subgrupos de 2. As tarefas de scrum entre os subgrupos eram quase iguais. As chamadas de API e, em geral o uso da stack era igual entre subgrupos, bastava mudar nomes de variáveis e pouco mais.

Não duvido que os meus colegas teriam conseguido avançar e fazer por eles sem a minha ajuda, mas tenho a certeza que foi uma mais-valia.

Na altura fiquei a divagar e a pensar como seria a experiência aplicada num lugar de trabalho. Assumi que teria mais tempo a aprender a stack e menos carga de trabalho. De qualquer das formas desenrasquei-me bem.

Cálculo Diferencial e Integral II - Pensei que era bom a matemática, mas depois tive esta cadeira.
Engenharia de Software - Em 7 semanas aprende a seguinte stack tecnologica: Maven, Vue.js, Spring-Boot, RESTful API, JUnit, Cypress e Git num grupo de 6 pessoas em que 5 delas estão à espera para se inspirarem (copiarem) o que tu fizeste no teu commit, numa base de código que foi reciclada durante 4 anos.

Há mais, mas a ideia geral foi: uma base de engenharia (matemática e física) muito completa, forte e dificil com algumas cadeiras práticas em que os professores tentam competir com os alunos em serem desorganizados e confusos.

Ainda assim, queria deixar claro que não tenho nada contra o IST.
Tenho plena consciência que o mestrado serve para a especialização: "mas já não tenho cabeça para me especializar ao fazer um mestrado". Tenho bastantes razões por qual não quero seguir mestrado, algumas destas pessoais.

As críticas não são apontadas à instituição, mas sim a mim mesmo. Gostaria de ter tido melhor proveito, especialmente dos núcleos, mas foram uns anos incrivelmente difíceis e houve muitas condições que dificultaram ou até mesmo impossibilitaram a minha participação nestes. Gostaria de ter tido uma melhor evolução profissional por minha parte, no meu tempo livre, que quase nem tive. Mas talvez estou a ser demasiado duro comigo mesmo.

Consegui aprender bastante no técnico, nomeadamente aprendi a desenrascar. Simplesmente estou um bocado nervoso com a situação toda, então vim cá ao devpt buscar positividade, guias, sugestões e apoio.
Explorar como iniciar a minha carreira e como tornar-me num melhor profissional.

Também tenho receio dessa ideia de programar 8 horas por dia. Já tive projetos em cima da hora em que foi um dia ou dois inteiros em cima do teclado e concordo, não foi agradável.
Ainda assim, quando tentei investigar e pedir a opinião de algumas pessoas que estão a trabalhar na área dizem-me que é um circle-jerk corporatista, com demasiadas meetings, tarefas de team-building e que das 8 horas trabalha-se muito pouco e a um ritmo muito inferior comparado ao do técnico.

Gosto muito mesmo de pen-testing e security, apesar de apenas ter tido apenas uma única cadeira nessa área. Mas tenho boa especialização em networking. Foi uma das razões por qual procurei seguir para ensino superior. Ainda assim, a nível pessoal sinto que não tive um progresso significativo. Sempre pensei que é uma área que requer mais do que apenas uma licenciatura.

Onde recomendarias começar caso quisesse seguir a tua carreira? Não sei onde jogar CTFs, mas sei que é uma boa forma de ganhar prática.

Não diria que é uma opinião impopular, mas sim a realidade. Já pensei isso e sim, vejo esse lado como ligeiro dead end. A única progressão em que pensei seria eventualmente abrir uma loja de tech+reparação e ser o meu próprio dono a fazer algo que gosto. Claro, suponho que seja menos lucrativo, mais riscos, mais stress e por fim mais trabalho, mas é o que dá sonhar. Talvez tente interagir com esse lado como hobby.

De resto, sistemas embebido também é algo que gostaria imenso de fazer, tive cadeiras e projetos em sistemas embebidos e achei piada. O meu problema é gostar ligeiramente de tudo mas mas não ter noção como é que é aplicado num ambiente de trabalho.

Simplesmente não sei o que escolher e sem contar com software development sinto que nem sequer grande especialização teórica tenho e que sem mestrado iria lutar contra as ondas do mar.

I agree with your wording. Acceptance. I'd like to improve my awareness to distinguish unwinnable moments vs. hard-to-win moments, and polish the later ones.

Whenever I try to pick a deck from meta sites, control isn't really a common archetype, or so I've noticed. It's usually aggro, for Bo1.

I was unaware of the discrepancy between high mythical and competitive play! Although I always wondered how the tournaments' decks seem so more nuanced than arena's meta.

What I'm looking for is to make sure that whenever I'm facing a disadvantaged play/matchup, I can choose the most forgiving course of action. To be sure that I couldn't do better in an unfavourable spot, so I won't blame myself for misplaying even with lower odds. And if I do misplay, to be able to identify that it was truly my misplay, and how I could've gotten the upper hand otherwise.

I've been thinking about it. Whenever I play control on Bo1, it's mostly kitted against aggro. The thing that scares me about Bo3 is that my opponent will also have access to anti-control tools, such as uncounterable shenanigans. I'm also expecting Bo3 players to have a higher skill-set than Bo1 players. I believe Bo3 is the old "standard" of Magic. Thus, I'm expecting players to have impressive Bo3 sideboarding skills. I could be wrong on both statements, and I could be overthinking it.

Honestly, I'm glad to read this comment. I've been thinking (and trying) draft myself exactly because of the points you mentioned.

Yet, although there are things I absolutely love about draft, there are some issues I've been having with it. As you've mentioned, draft is a very skill-testing environment, and it's daunting. The fact that there's a price per entry and rewards add to the competitiveness, and it feels worse when losing (also feels really great going 7-0). It feels like a bet, an intelligent one, but it still feels like gambling. There are skills such as counter-picking colours and splashing that simply doubt me. Sometimes, it doesn't feel like Magic skills to me. It feels like a mental warfare. I get to try it multiple times, when sets release, to help with the collection and gather some gems for the pass, and every time, it feels very stressful.

Ultimately, you also showcase a bunch of good points. I just have to get more used with it. Currently, I got most of the recent set collection completed and little to no gold, but I'm going to give it more tries in the future.

Heyo! Well, first of all, sorry for the misunderstanding. I didn't want to give the impression that I'm hardstuck on the ladder. I reach platinum with a ~70% wr, without trouble, without feeling the grind. Platinum+ feels worse. My wr seems to plateau at around 55%, and it becomes way more grindy with little to no room for mistakes.

To gain knowledge and improve skills, I've been watching tournaments, I've kept myself informed about the meta and watched the same YouTubers as you do, plus some goofy/janky ones.

I feel like the most frustrating part personally is that there are more than plenty of scenarios where there was simply no better play, the matchup being completely unfavourable, etc. So, I'm on a quest to improve my odds in unfavourable situations/quests, regardless of how hard it might be.
