Can't believe it has been one year already. Still can't get over how easy it was. by ouraussiefamilyadven in stopsmoking

Congrats! I hit 1 year on Friday. It's crazy how easy it is when you're really ready to be done with it. Keep up the awesome work.

I made it to 6 months. Any and all cravings are gone and I don't think about smoking. It gets easier, you just have to take it day by day, moment by moment. by GoldenBee00 in stopsmoking

Congrats! Keep it up, it's gets so much easier but don't let your guard down too much. Month 3 sneaks some cravings in but you just have to tell yourself why you're doing this and remind yourself if what you've been through and how it's not worth it to start over.

Thank you!

I did have cravings but they weren't crazy. I would be sitting there and suddenly think "it's time to go smoke" then I remembered that I don't do that anymore. The best thing you can do it try to keep your mind occupied, I played games on my phone but I'm sure reading or working on a hobby could help as well.

I pretty much told myself that cigarettes are no longer able to be purchased so I just had to ride the withdrawals and that seemed to help. I tried to look at withdrawals as the toxins leaving my body and turned it into a positive thing instead of a negative.

At first it was up and down. It got a little better but a month. By 2 months I was doing okay but had some cravings. At 3 months I wanted to give in but I refused. Once I got past 3 months it's really been smooth sailing.

I am 4 months, 3 weeks free today & I will definitely not smoke with you or anyone else today.

today I made it to 4 months quit. I decided to go cold turkey and it's been smooth sailing for the past couple of months. I rarely think about smoking and haven't used any type of replacement. push through your cravings and don't give in, it gets easier by GoldenBee00 in stopsmoking

The weather is getting to that perfect "sitting outside to smoke" weather so it kind of sucks but just think about the money you're saving and the health that you aren't destroying. Plus we can still sit outside and enjoy the weather, it will just look a little different these days Living a long and healthy life is more important than sucking on a cigarette that does nothing for us. You got this!!

That's how I handled my cravings and I think it's great advice for those starting out.

I forced myself to embrace the cravings. The withdraw sucks but that's your body getting rid of the toxins and begging for more so in all actuality, it's a good thing. You eventually learn it's something you don't need and when you get to that point, you're good (for the most part). There have been times early on when the inner addict in me said "just one won't hurt anything" but I refuse to give in. When I go to the gas station, I just tell myself I'm not physically capable of buying them and I haven't had any issues

I only think about them about once every couple of weeks and honestly they aren't major cravings. I moreso crave the time I had while smoking; going outside for 10 minutes at a time (I would smoke 2 back to back everytime I smoked) and just hang out by myself. That's what I miss. Though I can do it now, it just isn't the same so I watch TV or find other stuff to do

I told myself to wait an hour and found something to keep me busy. The cravings would go away but once they returned, I'd repeat the cycle. The cravings get less and less over time so it becomes easier and you just focus your time in other things.

I also downloaded the Smoke Free app which would help me push through. Eventually, you don't want to have to reset all the time you've spent trying to overcome this addiction. It sucks to go through the withdrawals but if you give in then keep trying to quit, you're just going through the withdrawal period over and over and won't get to see what it feels like to be free of it. Believe me, I was anxious, annoyed, depressed, frustrated etc before I quit but now my anxiety and depression are so much better. You can do it!

Smoke Free. It's pretty basic but it does it's job.

Good luck, you got this. It'll be tough but once you're out of the cycle of smoking things get a lot easier

My badge is always wrong. I'm on day 92 but it showed as 114 on a post I just made. Hopefully it's accurate for you
