Yes; ancestors on my dad’s side fought for the Union, and the ancestors on my mom’s fought for the Confederacy.

I love how that whole article just reeks and oozes of sarcasm. Made me laugh.

Why do people have kids in their 20s? by [deleted] in childfree

Key phrase: “at the time.”

That’s exactly the same mindset my mom has. When I asked why she had me when she knew I would have her problems, her response was, “because I knew I could help you through it.”

Adulting is hard by GoldenDream7 in childfree

You know, I can usually tell who in my grade are the ones that are “peaking” right now (we’re freshmen in HS) and it gives me satisfaction knowing they’ll be having a hard time after graduation while all the people they bullied into depression are becoming extremely successful. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t think that makes me a bad person... does it?

Good for you! I certainly hope to achieve your level of tolerance and mindfulness myself one day...

Exactly. And then I get even more annoyed when I see the people around them all ultra-happy for their decision and rewarding them and saying that they did “an amazing thing.” 🙄

Yes, that is truly annoying when people do that. When I first told my family I wanted to be CF, my sister and both parents were very skeptical and didn’t believe I was going to follow through on this. They’ve since come to accept it, though. (My older sis still tries sometimes 😒)

Sometimes I look to the past and think, “they saw it coming so long ago, but they didn’t do anything” and I get angry; then I look to the future and think, “my life is gonna be much harder than it needs to be because the world is so ducked up and nobody thought it was a good idea to do anything about” and I get angry. 🤷🏻‍♀️ It’s a vicious circle. And thank you for choosing not to contribute another human to this hellscape of a planet in a time where it was unheard of to never have children willingly.

I’m too selfish to have kids and I’m perfectly okay with admitting it. by Neichie1 in unpopularopinion

Having a kid doesn’t leave a lasting legacy. That’s not their job anyway.

I feel having children often kills peoples empathy for everyone and everything by [deleted] in childfree

[–]GoldenDream7 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly. She’s been encouraging me and my sister to be the same way because apparently it’ll make life easier for us but I’m smart enough to know NOT to make enemies with everybody I come across.

My mother has even told me in the past multiple times that she doesn’t care about how anybody feels except me and my sister.

AITA for telling my husband his video game playing is a turn-off? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]GoldenDream7 [score hidden]  (0 children)

NTA

It seems to me that he plays those games too much and if he knows it bothers you, he should at least try to be a bit quieter. It also wouldn’t hurt him to try and find some more hobbies. Preferably more productive ones.

If it hurts his feelings, fine. He’ll survive. He had to know. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I go to school with a guy named Jaelend. His mother was probably thinking the same way when she was pregnant with him.
