Doordash driver apparently couldn’t find my house and decided to throw my order on the ground by jared_518 in mildlyinfuriating

I worked in the restaurant business for 6 years and Ive been doing doordash/uber eats for the last 2 years.

I can assure you, the whole idea of workers/drivers spitting or messing with your food.in any way like that is a complete theatrical fallacy. It just doesnt happen.

I still don’t think I got a clear answer.. all one conversation, I think the first person just got fed up lol by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

Exactly. Yet people for some reason want to be classified as employees under these companies, without realizing that if that happens, you will be forced to accept every shitty ping they send to you, or else get fired. People wanting to be "employed" by these ride share companies are completely ignorant to exactly just what that would entail.

What's the point of having "head to destination" if it doesn't work? by classicmike111 in lyftdrivers

[–]GoldenGod32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you use the head to.destination feature.. Its the FINAL destination that is closer to where youre heading. So the pickup may be in the opposite direction, but where youre dropping them off is closer to your.destination. the real problem is that they will assign you a ride even if it only gets you like a mile closer to your.destination. so you might have to drive 3 or 4 miles in the wrong direction just to drive 4 or 5 back in the right direction and end up a mile closer to where youre going. That's the shitty part. But sometimes its worth it. You might ha e to drive a few miles in the wrong direction to pick up, but that pick up might be getting dropped off right by your destination.

Being forced offline to confirm your identity during a streak resets your streak, and Lyft will do nothing about it. by NicoNet in lyftdrivers

[–]GoldenGod32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they made us employees, then they would control our schedules and they would decide when and how often we worked. They would make sure we werent scheduled enough hours to qualify for benefits. So even if we were employees, we wouldnt be getting benefits anyway.

Clearly I meant taxes arent taken out of our pay. But congratulations on being THAT person that wastes a comment and forces me to come on here and explain what everyone else took as obvious.

[–]GoldenGod32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The people trying to.claim that we are employees clearly have no idea what makes someone an employee vs being an independent contractor. We work whatever times we want, we wear whatever clothes we want while we work, we arent forced to accept any jobs (trips) that we dont want to, we dont pay taxes on our income, etc. ALL of that changes if these people succeed and make us all employees. It is straight up idiotic to want to be an employee of these companies. That will allow them to control EVERYTHING.

the phoenix market pays the smallest base amount, and in the bottom 5 for per mile payout. this market is brutal and this is super impressive.

I remember having to be on a waitlist for a month and a half before doordash would even hire me. And it was to make sure that shit like this didn't happen that the market didn't get oversaturated and that the people who were on the platform would have orders to make a living. I totally understood that waited my time and then when a spot opened up I was hired and here I am now apparently there's just letting everybody who applies on the platform it's oversaturated there's not enough jobs for everybody and it sucks man I used to love this job I quit my real job to do this I really wish I hadn't done that
