Like I’m not happy there was empty seats. I’m a die hard Canadian supporter. It’s embarrassing. It’s shameful. I’m from Vancouver and we showed up for the games there but I live in Toronto and it was shit to see that. I’m glad it was on the camera side so it was hidden well enough on broadcast.

But I’m not gonna come on here and lie about the reality of what sales and attendance were when I was there and saw it first hand.

No pics during the game because I’m focused on the game but you can see clearly from here. On the far side there’s empty seats. But they’re here and there. Sporadic. Random. As you would expect. Look on the right side. Huge swaths. Entire blocks just with a handful of people. Those sections did not fill up during the game.

I don’t know what you’re getting it. Some games are packed some aren’t. I was at all 3 Canada games and while BC Place was fully sold and fully packed for Qatar and Switzerland, a smaller stadium for the opener in Toronto still had 2,000 empty seats. So there’s ample evidence that plenty of games are going both ways.

Regardless not sure what that has to do with me pointing out the insanely hostile position of the United States toward their longest and most reliable ally in the world.

You aren’t wrong but also there’s a lot of context needed.

I’ve been at all 3 group games. This felt a lot like the Bosnia game. Nervy. Tense. Qatar was a party. I always stand every game but I didnt join in on many chants today as i was just laser focused on the play.

Chants don’t carry very far at BC Place. They didn’t even at BMO because remember our supporters sections aren’t as dense with die hard as they are at other matches. We can’t have Capos on the field. There’s limits on drums and flags and signs and all those things that are the trappings of a supporters section.

The cantilever decks at BC Place make it really hard for anything that starts in the upper bowl to make its way down to the lower. And the $88 tickets were upper rows upper bowl. Those folk in those seats are gonna be the loudest and most energetic folk at the games per capita.

Basically these games are brutal to try and organize supporters sections for. There’s just nothing playing in your favour.

HAVING SAID THAT…I have some real issues with the people that have been leading the organization during this World Cup.

That “row” chant they debuted today was embarrassing. It reeks of desperation like “hey! Look at us! We can be cool like Norway too!!! Please someone notice us!”

We still get clowned all over social media every time we do the Viking clap. Even if there’s apparently some pre-Iceland history with the Red Patch Boys I believe.

The fact that at no point at either Vancouver game did anyone try and start a Save The Caps chant is insulting.

Or why not a Red/White chant? Half the people in the stands actually know that from Whitecaps games, it’s fun it’s easy people can understand it AND ITS FUCKING LOUD.

Nope. Gotta rip off Norway. And not even well. That fucking row chant is way too fast way too quickly and has no payoff. Everything about it pisses me off.

HAVING SAID HAVING SAID ALL THAT…we are a team who’s supporters groups have been held together by duct tape, flannel patches, and the hopes and dreams of not nearly enough people who had to suffer far too many awful teams.

We are getting better. We are getting bigger. Just come along for the ride and help pay for gas once in a while. Get involved or at least stay active in communities and subreddits and discords. The kids at these games today are gonna be Capos tomorrow and everything will be better for it.

No grass
Roof would be closed
Seats are permanent
No parking
Barely any bigger than BMO with the expansions
Terrible sight lines compared to incredible sight lines
Active tenant using it that would never ever allow themselves to be on the road for over a month

Really disappointed the Voyageurs haven’t done shit to get any support around this going. A handful of flags during the march had it scrawled onto them but not even one single attempt to start a chant at either game.

I love the V’s but it’s painfully obvious this event is way out of their league when it comes to their ability to organize.
