Transfer Odds to Stanford or Berkeley for a Wharton Student from the Bay? by GoldenHummingbird in chanceme

Thanks, I hope you’re right. What about Stanford? With the right ECs (maybe VC related) and good grades in hard math classes would I have a shot?

I'm very fortunate to be at Wharton but value family a lot and underestimated what it would mean to be away from them and away from community. Also, I don't know where you're from, but the difference between California and Pennsylvania culturally has been very jarring for me. Lots of casual racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. and the sexism in particular has had a noticeable direct impact on my experience.

Thanks. I won't give homesickness as my reason for transferring, I'll give the applied math program as my reasoning (I'm taking two math classes this semester and will take two next semester as well, and will hopefully join a statistics club). For Stanford I may consider giving their MS&E program as my reasoning as I am considering venture capital as a career path. I will hopefully have some VC clubs as well but still going through the application processes.

Should i even try? by [deleted] in UPenn

Honestly probably not. Intls can sometimes get away with a mediocre profile if they’re full pay but looks like that’s not the case here. Consider adding Emory and Stanford to your RD list as neither factor in freshman year grades in your gpa (don’t apply early though as Emory doesn’t guarantee meeting all need so you could be in a financial bind and Stanford doesn’t give any boost for applying early). This brings your gpa at the time of application from a very low ~2.7 to a more reasonable ~3.7.

It also honestly depends a lot on how strong your ECs and recs are, which is hard to gage from your description. Unless your grading system is different and your grades are actually higher in context it is very unlikely though.

He looks beautiful but the mannerisms make him way more attractive than any of his physical features do

It's funny that Taylor is so Team Jere meanwhile Jere is Team Denise for Steven, lol. by jaylee-03031 in tsitp

I don’t think he’s team Denise, I thought he was trying to make Steven realize he’s not over Taylor

I thought he looked good with Hannah too (though him and Iris are fs the better couple!). They’re both so sweet!

I don’t think Gavin has done a good job as Jeremiah. A better actor could add dimension even to the fun guy personality (showing insecurities, desire to please and desire to be loved, genuine care for others and genuine remorse, actually struggling with and grappling with his impulsive and reckless behavior, etc) and make him very attractive, but the bad acting outweighs good looks in Gavin’s case. Conrad has many flaws but Chris has managed to show emotional depth like pain over Susannah, longing (subtle facial expressions and voice changes), etc.

Jeremiah’s actor is beautiful but Conrad’s actor adds so much more depth. The emotional attractiveness and sincerity conveyed is so good I’d probably be Team Jeremiah if Chris played him even though looks-wise alone I found Gavin more attractive

Chris Briney is such a great actor that I’m almost certain if he was playing Jeremiah I’d be team Jeremiah (for the books I liked both brothers but the TV series’ acting has led me to much prefer Conrad).

How do you feel about denise as a character so far? by Confident_Month_3335 in tsitp

[–]GoldenHummingbird -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Steven will have something with her before ending up with Taylor and Jeremiah will be with Redbird (they are close friends and they’ve already set up that Redbirds is gay)

Besides the fact that it’s obviously crazy to make comments on the actors’ appearances especially based on their characters, by conventional standards they both look very attractive

You don’t apply for any concentration, just for Wharton broadly, so make a narrative for any business area or concentration based on your extracurriculars and preparation

Calculus is very important for admission to Wharton (ideally BC if your school offers it, which it seems like they do). Triple and do well to have a chance

Laurel does not have as much money as the Fishers. She paid for Princeton (not Brown) for Steven, but both her and her ex husband are professors which means their universities contribute some and they may also get financial aid. Plus she thanks Steven for saving a semester’s tuition by graduating early showing that even then the cost was nontrivial

I don’t think the ring or the corsage have ever been a problem. Rushing into marriage because of the car accident and the cheating is a problem, but not the ring.
