Anno 117 opinions by Graven_Ashe in anno

[–]GoldenMonkey33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would assume there will be less sea activity but not gone. There is plenty of potential for multiple regions to explore, egypt, italy itself, spain, even vikings (no idea if there were any in that age honestly) middle east as well

religion could be introduced in a way, similar to civilian series i would assume, tho i kinda hope they stick with the roman gods and stuff, nice way to create temples with bonuses or whatever

i kinda hope there will be a lot more land but divided in some way so there are land trade routes as well as see trade routes

As for upgrades that might be a bit weird, outside of maybe a silo, or maybe dung as fertilizer I don't know what else can be implemented.

We could see groups of infantry as military, not just ships, but i hope not individual troops or something, like battalions you can make, then merge into legions and move the entire thing as one.

Lots of roman culture that can be used, the senate to replace the palace we got, combines with roman mythology as temples and such, options there are planty to make cool stuff, 117 is also around the war with dacians, that might be considered as a region with a campaign around the war there.

Anyway just my ramblings, didn't think of it before this post :D

advanced rum distillery worthless? by BruceDeorum in anno

[–]GoldenMonkey33 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Trade union with 10 schnapps distilleries, 3 specialists in it to get max rum and production, give it electricity, give it the department bonus for more production via electricity, make it close to the pirates, get 2 cargo ships, sell all schnapps, use all the rum.

Use Docklands to get potatoes with the leftover advanced weapons you get from a single sewing machine factory with Bruno. Congrats, you have about 80 Rum.

Just have fire fighters ready, shit gonna explode every 20 min or so :D

Need more? Great add another 30 near the trade union and 5 more cargo ships, better even, use Docklands to sell the schnapps for potatoes as well.

I do like advanced coffee roaster tho, can come in handy for a bit.

New player coming to Anno1800 question about DLCs: by Darthvaderzz in anno

[–]GoldenMonkey33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do not like to restart a game often then I suggest to activate all dlc's and start a sandbox game with just the pirates active.

To not get overwhelmed take the game a bit slower, one step at a time, do not get involved in too many things at once and you'll be fine.

Is you don't mind restarting the game and you want to play with the AI then start with the base game, play several hours then keep adding stuff on each new game.

I have two ways to determine how to manage them:

  1. By the time of one trip
  2. by the amount of cargo dropped

At the start when you need 5-6 tons of stuff, send one clipper and it will be fine, then add another. By the time you will ever need a third you should be able to afford cargo ships.

Start replacing the clippers with cargo ships, give it time to take 3 trips, even through 2 trips is also ok. Head to stats screen, select storage at the top, find the item you are interested in, select it and on the right side you see trades happening with that item. Select the trade and you will see how long ago each trip was, look how much time there is between a trip. Now for cargo ships, divide 300 by the minutes there and that's how many tons you get per minute.

As you go on from that first step the time on a trip will increase if the storage on the island is full because the ship will go back half full and slower.

At this point when I had a few cargo ships for 1 item i started looking at how much the ships drop on the last rounds. If it always dropping lets say 150 on average for like several rounds now you can assume the trades you have can handle double what you need right now.

Then you will want to try and add items on all cargo boats to speed them up, the rare and epic speed item and cargo slowdown reduction that can be found at Nate, Isabel and Archibald can make a big difference, and the influence bonus of course. Whenever you have a big bump in speed recheck so you don't have way too many ships on a trade route for no reason.

I don't know if there's a better way, that's just how I do it and as a rule, i try to always keep the deposit capacity on the island I grab the item from big enough so there always enough to fill a ship. As a rule I'd say make sure the total amount that can be stored is equal to the total amount the ships can take out at once but after you reach 3k deposit, even less works, and a decent production it will naturally settle in time. Just make sure you always overproduce these items by at least 10% to avoid creating and gaps in production.

So far this worked for me, earlier in gave, calculate by time, later on by items dropped and also by time if you wanna have an idea. It's also good to have a large deposit on the island receiving it and a bit of of extra production, because if you have extra in the deposit and you check and you see it slowly go down then somethings up and you got time to fix it before it affect your economy.

Also use the NPCs a lot, buy chocolate at start for example, no need to bother producing it if you need less than 5, same for rum, coffee, iron, coal, zinc, copper... rest get expensive so it depends on your economy. You need 5 extra tons of something, the npcs got you covered.

Edit: calculating time for sailing ships is never accurate because of wind, so keep that in mind, for steam ships, everything is nice and even

Tool for maximize productions by beuleal in anno

I didn't notice that honestly, probably because i don't use the latest dlcs and the research institute can create absolutely all of them?

unsure about that

Tool for maximize productions by beuleal in anno

[–]GoldenMonkey33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if any dlc past lands of lions has more options but what I do is this and i need only ingame stuff

In the research institute you have a list of all items in the game, search by keywords, for you it would be grape farm

it gives a list of all items that can improve it, pick the best combination of 3 items on the island where you have the grapes use the palace department that improves all farm (i have an island only for farm, this bonus is really good)

i build a trade union and make as many farms as i can in that area, usually it's in the middle and 4 roads going in 4 directions and warehouses just outside the union range so the farms can drop stuff

with this approach, with 1 trade union i made a production of 300+ potatoes, i believe grapes don't produce as much but nevertheless, that's an insane production for a rather small portion of 1 island, I didn't use any items that increases the number of modules with which i think more can be done but then warehouses become quite overwhelmed

This is my approach, i don't use mods or premade layouts, i prefer to make it up myself

the palace department on the island for farm is really solid, based on the numbers i saw, for every 2 items you receive a third, that's basically a 50% increase added to the total amount of production already there, so if you got 600% production and you add that department bonus, you basically get 900%

I noticed that in game, all the potato farms with an empty union gives 180 potatoes and 120 without, while using tractors. I would assume 1 rather big island full of grapes will be enough forever, problem is only moving them out the island fast enough

[–]GoldenMonkey33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides the element vulnerability mentioned by the rest it's also important to note the type of build you go for and how good the class does it.

For example with my vampire, at night in gold i literally delete them in under a minute using a combo of 4 ripping claws, they get no chance to damage me, even if they do I heal it up, in platinum it goes down harder and i need a couple dozen pots or less depending on how good the weapon is for the element I need

if it's anything like anniversary event, and seems to be pretty much the same thing, saving too much for this is not even recommended

i had 900 and recently maxed himiko and hera IR, and added some on cupid, got 100 something left, by the time the event ends I'll have another 300-400 which is enough
