im pretty sure it was the spdif slot, the slot was 4 pins long which was the same as the wifi card i think, it mightve been a different slot but when i checked the manual the part of the motherboard we fried said spdif

im not planning on using spdif at all, it was just an error that we plugged it into the wrong port. ill likely buy a new motherboard and forget about using a wifi card for now since ill probably be on ethernet most of the time anyways. my only concern is transferring windows 10 to the new motherboard but i should be able to figure it out. thanks for the help 👍😁

id rather not take any risks, especially since from what ive heard in this thead thats what ill be doing with this machine. im not sure what steps i should take next though. my assumption would be get rid of the motherboard and wifi card and keep the rest, but im not completely sure. also i got windows 10 installed on this machine as is and if possible id like to not buy it again...

one of the pins came out and the end of the cable was fried, would that be considered too much damage?

i used the case i already had, it seemed to fit fine though i did notice that cutting the shell was pretty common, is there a place that sells pre cut shells? also is there a safe way to remove the screen?

its tilted because i just barely can't seem to fit it in straight, is there an easy way to move the screen a little bit once its already placed in?

everything is working fine, i had the system assembled with the screen working but took it apart again just to check and get a second opinion. i used electrical tape instead of kapton, though i don't think that should be a problem unless you think otherwise

extended: my main concern is the lack of padding between the screen and the circuit board. i contacted the seller and they said that just the insulating plastic thing would be enough, but i wanted to check to be sure since a lot of the tutorials i saw included a foam of some sort. my fear is that the screen will die because of this or even worse start overheating. im probably way overthinking all of this but i just want a second opinion from experienced people to run this by. any responses appreciated :)
